Beta build 604 of Microsoft's MSN Messenger 7.
Build 604 contains quite a number of changes from the previous beta build (build 425) including slightly modified icons and a grey text message next to each contact icon's name actually explaining their current status (Online, Away, Offline etc)

There's no reason it wouldn't be. This is just an update to it, if there aren't any major coding changes then plus! should be fine (it worked on all builds of 7 [after the update] so far, didn't it?)

looks cool, its quite similar from the current version mabye with less bugs though. the personalized status thing looks good though. cant wait till its public!!!

For forum members that haven't heard. Msn messenger 7.0 final is not going to be released untill sometime March now. That is why there is an update in the Beta, for more testing. Dont worry though, Messenger Plus will be 100% compatible still. The new Msn Messenger 7.0.0604 Beta will be strictly private testers, so unless a MSN Beta Butterfly leaks it, which I would not rely on.

Thats looking pretty insane to be honest, its gotten really dodgy ... I don't think I like the Display Picture behind the icon... Its making the Contact list longer, and you'll have to use more scrolling...

I'll always go with msn messenger for its support and mesenger plus!, stuffplug etc... msn messenger is just trying to go for the 'everything else' thing, the dp in the contact list, like the aim buddy list... Its just getting everything else, its afraid of failing, which is what its doing, Plus! is pretty much holding it up...

i remember ICQ did the same to there client,, adding lots of unwanted features ,, people just left it an used something else, now i think ICQ has listened an is making it a smaller client an lot more friendlier to use , but with plugins you can download Manually

MSN Messenger would still be a thriving program, but they would have to steal features rather than being original.

That would seem pretty cool to me, I wouldn't have them in my contact list, I'm not sure many will, it seriously doesn't look very nice, all thats happening with msn is they are adding useful features and the file size of msn is growing...

Well I made a mistake in my post. There is no chance of this beta getting leaked because:.... MSN Beta Butteries wont even have this beta, the only person testing this are Microsoft's Msn Messenger Team, there not taking any chances on letting this become leaked (And I dont blame them)...

I reckon the dp's in the contact list is a good feature , as for some new dodgy bloat of the search button in the IM window etc! that is whats ruining msn messenger, it used to be fast and light but now some of the stuff requires internet for it to appear lagging your msn and your internet! It just might be that its a beta but we'll soon see - also the personalised messages are a good idea if they integrate with wmp

Yes, it is illegal for you to have it A. Madsen, as you haven't signed the NDA for the update, you shouldn't have access to it. If you do, it is illegal. Even if you are a MSN Beta Butterfly. Until Microsoft release the build to MSN Beta Butterflies, it is illegal for anyone, except Microsoft Staff and whoever they deem allowed have it, to have the new Beta build of MSN Messenger 7.

The new and Illegal version of msn messenger has different properties to that of the older version which break msgplus's ability to implement some features. Please wait until this version is officially released eg not illegal and i'm sure then patchou will release an update

Does anyone know when the 0604 will be released to the public. I was halfway through downloading it but stopped it because although I download a lot of legal BETA things, It didn't feel right downloading this illegal one. Anyway, I don't see what it should be illegal. It's only an Instant Messaging program!

just download it like everyone else is doing, look if microsoft really didnt want it to get leaked then they could easily stop it getting leaked they have ways only programs can be used by a beta tester. You have nothing to worry about just download it its cool! I think the offical version is going to be released april but im not sure.

i dont see why the msn team, dont put some sort of licence keys or activation needed for their beta's, if they want to try and stop the general public using them.

Spreading and leaking private beta's is illegal.
It is not only illegal it can do damage to Microsoft, the production of the product, to the honest people testing it, and even to unsuspected users.
You all are constantly complaining about Microsoft, and I'm very tired of this. If you all fail to see how leaking beta's can be bad then it's time to read up on some material like "PC for dummies", "How does one create a program", "programming for dummies", "start a bussiness for dummies"...
The reason why we say it is illegal is not to play your mommy and pointing the finger at you or just for the sake of being illegal. But because we do know what such leaked/private stuff can do. It is for your own good, your own protection and for the good/normal development of a program that you all like, that we say this.
Did you ever though of WHY it is private? In the past there were MANY examples of how private beta's fuck up computers.
If you want to play the l333t person who has a new leaked beta then go to some warez sites for all I care but don't encourage people to participate in this stuff on forums like these, where people actually care about a good quality product.
And no, it is NOT for the benefit of the quality that you should "test" an illegal leaked version (And I strongly doubt that you even downloaded it for realy testing it). Like I said there are VERY good reasons why some beta's are private and only meant for certain individuals.
There is NOTHING l33t about leaking a private beta or even having it, in fact it is pathetic and only shows your incompetence of handling software...

Yeh, i agree, but as people have said they should either give it to people who they completely trust or have validation keys/serials/password upon open or even some sort of tracking software installed to know hwose leaked it

Every time a private beta is leaked, the same comments, remarks and discussions are being made. We keep saying the same things about legality and how participating in that (either by providing a link or downloading it or discussing it) can and will harm the trust that Microsoft puts into its beta testers.
Messenger Plus! forums will not participate in such activity and this is also made clear in the rules.
