I have renamed my contact list and the custom names appears before the 'xxx says:' but mine is still my display name. Can I make it 'abc' all the time instead of my actual display name?

with stuffplug ng you can have a chat-only name, and a display name, the chat-only name will just be used in conversations but on others' contact lists they will see your display name

yes using stuffplug-ng, its called chat only nickname, (you cantact sees your changed name tho too) www.stuffplug.com
