I actually like WSFtp but it's not free at least not the pro version

CuteFTP is one of the best ftp uploaders that I've ever used, FlashFXP is really good aswell

FileZilla: says u can edit files directly but doesnt
SmartFTP: good... but not great
FreshFTP: no direct file edit 
u used to use flashfxp, but they did a update which booted off all copyes that were registered with cracks
atm ive been using
coreftp: okish..but looks horrible
filezilla: no direct editing of files
freshftp: no editing of files + no chmod
but i realy could do with something new

i decided to use the filezilla.. I guess its ok.. I prefer Flash FXP but it ran out and it stops the 30 sec
