Hi, RE: Undeleting the recycle bin? by .blade// on 03-16-2005 at 04:14 AM Unless you have something like a new version of Norton installed with Un-Erase wizard then you're prob. out of luck. RE: Undeleting the recycle bin? by *Saint* on 03-16-2005 at 04:15 AM you can get programs just search for unearase or if you have system mechanic or norton they both have one RE: Undeleting the recycle bin? by WDZ on 03-16-2005 at 04:23 AM Two free programs: http://shoutbox.menthix.net/showthread.php?tid=33...d=323586#pid323586 RE: Undeleting the recycle bin? by CookieRevised on 03-16-2005 at 04:27 AM
But if you found one, do NOT install it on the disk where you want to undelete your files from!!!!! If you do, chances are high you'll overwrite them with installing the program.... RE: Undeleting the recycle bin? by ddunk on 03-16-2005 at 04:28 AM From what I read from serpico's post, he wants to get the icon back on his desktop, not rescue files. Not sure though... I'll delete this if i'm wrong RE: Undeleting the recycle bin? by CookieRevised on 03-16-2005 at 04:30 AM
quote:Oh, indeed.... well if that is the case, just restart your PC, in most cases it will be fixed automatically... RE: Undeleting the recycle bin? by The_Thief on 03-16-2005 at 04:34 AM What if I restart my pc it will come back? RE: Undeleting the recycle bin? by CookieRevised on 03-16-2005 at 04:47 AM
Normally yes. RE: Undeleting the recycle bin? by .Roy on 03-16-2005 at 05:17 AM im not sure but maybe system restore point will help? RE: Undeleting the recycle bin? by CookieRevised on 03-16-2005 at 05:24 AM
quote:nope, it wont, it doesnt store recent changes like that. It even doesn't store/restore recycle bin stuff... Furthermore, be very carefull with system restore; it will overwrite any recent changes (including installed programs and data!!) RE: Undeleting the recycle bin? by .Roy on 03-16-2005 at 05:34 AM
so what is the system restore point do, like what is it used for? RE: Undeleting the recycle bin? by haydos on 03-16-2005 at 07:46 AM
You say you accidently deleted it in XP pro, this isnt the easiest thing to do as it does not appear in add/remove programs and you cannot just click on it and delete or anything simple like that. You may have just hidden it from your desktop, try right clicking on the desktop>Arrange icons by>Show desktop items. Make sure this item is ticked. RE: Undeleting the recycle bin? by The_Thief on 03-16-2005 at 01:58 PM I fixed it at 2am. I just did a system restore point phewww. Thanks everyone for the help RE: Undeleting the recycle bin? by CookieRevised on 03-16-2005 at 02:56 PM
Like I said, doing a system restore wasn't needed at all quote:on a healthy system that is...... one small change in the registry can make it very well possible to delete it; it is after all just a (virtual) folder. But this change isn't meant for the 'common' user only for the 'advanced' who should know what he/she is doing. RE: Undeleting the recycle bin? by The_Thief on 03-16-2005 at 03:32 PM No no, I didn't install or change anything since then. the restore point was actually just a few hours prior to the deletion of that stupid recycle bin RE: Undeleting the recycle bin? by Tasha on 03-16-2005 at 04:35 PM You can't actually delete the recycle bin unless you have a REALLY unstable computer.. You probably just moved it somewhere.. But good job the system restore found it. RE: Undeleting the recycle bin? by Sunshine on 03-16-2005 at 04:59 PM A lil suggestion: store your documents and installationfiles on another partition (this is always a wise thing to do, think about what happens when you reinstall Windows etc.) and exclude it from sysrestore (start > control panel > system > system restore tab). That way they will not be lost incase you need to do a sysrestore. |
