I have an idea for a plugin. You know how on msn when you have groups and all the offline grouped together, I was wondering in the groups there could be one for away or different status than online, or maybe grouping the contacts with different statuses at the bottom of the group but still in the group. Is this possible and it will be cool if anyone can do it.

i think thats what he ment..
And ya this idea is great! Now i dont have to count so much. I hope someone brings this idea into a plugin

That would really requerie us to make "subgroups"... and I'm not really sure if this is all to possible.. ..

in 6.2 you could probably get the handle for the treeview control, extract all the contacts + statuses, and than put them back in your own order couldn't you?

Yes you maybe couldd do that, but i'm unsure weather it's possible to interfere with the contact list, meaning making changes in it visually or make or another sort by.... But here we are talking about subgroups which i'm not sure is possible...
It would instead be possible to make a plugin that moves the contact to a group named "Away" whenever a contact changes status to away or something etc. but not with subgroups, I do't think it's possible to get the MSN Client to support handling of subgroups this way...
