Sound # on Top 10? by TedoDude on 03-19-2005 at 02:33 PM

On the sound server home page (http://sounds.msgplus.net) would it be possible so the sounds give you their unique ID?

Because then we can download the sound to our own libraries to send to other contacts if we like it...

(did a search, no results, sorry if afore mentioned :))

RE: Sound # on Top 10? by Eljay on 03-19-2005 at 02:42 PM

yeh good idea (Y)

i was going to suggest this earlier but forgot lol

RE: Sound # on Top 10? by user13774 on 03-19-2005 at 02:46 PM

I was wondering the same :P. I guess it will be added soon. :)

RE: Sound # on Top 10? by Fredzz on 03-19-2005 at 07:50 PM

does anyone knows the ID of " Titatitatitatutu" its in first place i would like to hear it :D

RE: Sound # on Top 10? by Chestah on 03-19-2005 at 08:17 PM

is it possible to add in a new version of plus a feature that some programs use, where for example on the sound page/other sites you can click on a link and it will automatically put it into Plus! for you (of course it would ask you do you want to continue etc :P)

msgplus:"what ever file name"

have like a protocol that msgplus picks up :)?

RE: Sound # on Top 10? by TedoDude on 03-19-2005 at 08:21 PM

Ahh yes i see, providing the ID - that would be a very good idea!

Could however the website still give the sound id so
a) we don't have to wait for the next version
b) people with older versions can still do it?

RE: Sound # on Top 10? by Chestah on 03-19-2005 at 08:31 PM

ohh yeah sorry, of course that would happen before what i suggested happening :), i was just putting out an idea ;)!
You'll have to wait until Patchou replies to this thread :)

what do you think of the idea of making a protocol that when users click links in  their internet browser plus recognises it and then can import these sounds directly into your sound library Chris :P?

RE: Sound # on Top 10? by andrey on 03-19-2005 at 09:12 PM

  • sound:
    name: Titatitatitatutu
    isi: #65E9AD776959
and

  • sound:
    name: TiPiTiPaTiTiTuTu
    isi: #748b7e520082
are the same :o
I guess there are hundreds of duplicate sounds in the database...

Yah, I like the idea, some sounds in the list sound quite cool....

But isn't the protocoll thing taking it a bit to far ? I mean, in the end Messenger Plus! is still a MSN Messenger add-on.

It has the id of the sound in the sound library, click on the sound you want and then click "Edit sound" and it tells you the sounds "Internal number" :). The way Chris found it out is of course because hes a sound moderator :P

RE: Sound # on Top 10? by TedoDude on 03-23-2005 at 05:06 PM

Yeah agreed - now the sound server is back up perhaps the admin's will have time to implement??? :)

RE: Sound # on Top 10? by TedoDude on 03-26-2005 at 01:25 PM

It seems the list itself is gone now :(

Shame - perhaps it is to try to cut as much off server load as pos

thank you :dodgy:... the statistics system is just being rewritten, that's all :).
RE: Sound # on Top 10? by Chestah on 03-26-2005 at 11:34 PM

Hey Patch, not sure if you replied to this but what did you think of the sound protocol idea mentioned earlier in this thread :)

RE: Sound # on Top 10? by surfichris on 03-27-2005 at 01:52 PM

I've now completed various upgrades to the statistics generation script as well as the server status page.

The status page now shows the sound hash of each of the top sounds.

Yay! Thank You!

RE: Sound # on Top 10? by linx05 on 03-28-2005 at 03:44 PM

I reckon there should be an option to put the sound files into language specific categories. As I am downloading new ones, I get mostly different languages.

That would help a lot IMO.

brilliant (y), yay sounds :P

you'd have to go through each sound and listen to see if it was a different language, and there are alot of sounds on the servers ... :P

I know. But if Patchou implemented that in the next version, we would slowly get the right languages in the right categories. And the ones that are left behind? ummm don't know about them.

No they wouldn't. Only the very first time a sound is added to the server, the category is being set and it stays that way on the server and for everybody who downloads it for the first time, no matter how you change it locally (this goes for names too)...

I know what I mean, but I didn't mean that. I meant new sounds that were added.

RE: Sound # on Top 10? by Fredzz on 03-31-2005 at 02:31 PM

Currenly serving 884,401 sound files.
A total of 17,891,827 sounds have been downloaded.
