Yesterday when I tried to send it said... something like

Custom Emtoion Sound feature is currently disabled.
The server is under maintence at this moment.

Then today its taking like 2 minute for the C.E.S. to reach the person.

The sound server is under maintenance. It'll be back, just wait and be patient.

I thought id broken mine with over use!

so are all sounds hosted on teh custom sound server?? because surely that would cost alot in bandwidth etc.

yea all the sounds are stored on the server and if a user trys to play a sound they dont have in their library, its downloaded.  And yea it does use a lot of bandwdith

I can download random sounds but when I send one it says "An error ocured wile contacting the server..."

And where do all the sounds we create go?
Is it that when i create a sound, its uploaded to the sound server?
And why most sounds are in french

lol surely it would be better to transfer the sounds in a p2p sort of way wouldn't it?, but then I guess the random sound feature would be limited lol....anyways...I'm not the one who programmed it and it works lol, so I'm not complaining

lol? is that aimed at me? I was just thinking sending custom sounds directly to each other would save bandwidth for the central server, ie, sounds etc would be stored locally and when sending a sound it checks if the person has said sound and if not requests for it from the person sending.
When I said the feature would be limited I meant that the download random sound feature would not be functional without a central server.

* New sounds you create are always saved to your local cache and always send to the server (even if marked as private) as this is the only way that your contacts can recieve them.
* Sound which are played by your contact to you, are send to you via the server if you don't have them.
* If you do have the sound already, it is loaded from your local cache, not from the server.
* The random sound feature gets a random sound out of the public sound library on the server (thus private sounds are impossible to get). As soon as you select "add this sound to my list", the sound is saved in your local cache.

the main release of this msn 3.5 is because of the CUSTOM EMOTION SOUND, and now its not working...

I think people should stop abusing the random sound and reporting system. As it is this what is causing the downtimes...

I think we should stop moaning because it does work alot of the time and it can only be improved

Thesound server is supposed to work perfectly right now, it was down a few hours yesterday for improvements.

Its working Awesome now!

Anyways patchou should creat MSG plus 3.5.1 and create a C.E.S that when you send it saves into the persons computer. Not the server.

This is starting to really annoy me.... its becoming a huge let down. I don't think this feature is going to fly in the end... and it should not have been released until it was completely ready.

Well, i think its performing rather well considering the amount of sounds that are getting uploaded and downloaded each day. It was released as it was considered ready..

This is a service and there is no such thing as infinite bandwidth so as long as people keep abusing the service, the server will keep going down!

we should not "scold" patchou for making the server down... anyway its OUR responsibilty of "abusing" the server... patchou do not have the $$ to make the server available for unlimited usage...

the emotions sound is working fine, i like the feature but like someone said

can i get back my sound after a format? would be nice every sound have the creator name (not mail or display name)
and a "recovery sounds from the server" would be nice (only to sounds that i have created)

or a search sound function

not only download randomly

I do go to university to learn Japanese but my full time job is Plus!, I couldn't do anythign else . As for getting your sounds back after a format, just remember to export them before you reinstall your system, that's all .
