Siebe/Inky over at Messenger Blog has released a Beta of his program (foramlly known as MSNPast) to allow old version of windows/msn messenger to work with the current protocol.
I havent tried it out yet, but it looks great

I just managed to sign in on messenger 1 
every seams to work although i cant send any messages 
It looks like a promising program though

i was just chatting to Lee Jeffery while he was using MSN Messneger 1

well im curently trying to login with gmail but stupid msn 2 wont let me
