Don't know why latelly i've been wanting to solve every problem my pc has...so here's one of them :
When i go to start and then to Search i get this error message :
"It's not possible to find a necessary file to execute 'search assistant'. You may need to execute the configuration program...
Now i'm really needing the search assistant cause i need to find a file...can anybody help me please?

if you have windows XP to get the search working try running these commands:
regsvr32 wshom.ocx
regsvr32 jscript.dll
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
and after you run these commands restart the computer and see if it helped
Edit: i'm not sure this will help you though hopefully it will.
Edit 2: here is a site with some info that might help you

None of the solutions above gave results but I got one on the link that Joa gave
here's how to do it if someone is having these problems too :
1) Start > Run > regedit
2) Go through this path : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\CabinetState
3) Click Edit > New > String Value
4) Rename the new string to : use search asst
5) Double Click the "use search asst" key and type "no" on the Value Field
Screen Shot how it should be :
6) Close the registry
