memory usuage by amyearsley on 04-12-2005 at 06:02 PM

I've noticed an exceptional high memory usuage in messenger 7.0.777, mine is running at around 35000k most of the time and one of my mates is about 50000k.  Should this be the norm for it?

i think it is normal, if you have a lot of conversation windows open. how many have you got?

at the time i only had two windows opened, it has dropped off now to around 23000 and i havn't changed anything i am doing.

Do you have a lot of conversations/lot of Plus plugins? My usage (idling) is less than 10000k.

webcam sessions or microphone?

havn't used webcam for ages and only have msgplus installed, its been idle for 45mins or so and is currently at 24000k

Here is an explanation for you. While MSN Messenger has becoming a GUI bulk it isn't the entire cause of the large amount of memory usage. If you have a large amount of Messenger Plus! Plugins each plugin is loaded into MSN Messenger which causes it to use more and the same with Plus!.

only got msgplus as an addon, nothing else wotsoeva

Do you have anything like SMileyCentral or Spleak? They may be adding a bit to Messenger's usage.
