I mean this thing is so awesome, man maybe someone should make a forum to talk about how awesome it is:D How cool can an IM client be? about as cool as the almighty Trillian.

Oh, I see. Well, it's not a plug-in for MsgPlus, so this thread can go to "MsgPlus! General Talk."

That Trillian plug-in seems interesting... it claims to be able to receive custom sounds... I wonder if Patchou approves of that... I assume it connects to his server... :dodgy:

Trillian is NOT for messenger plus. Any program can have support for plugins, but all are of different format. There are plugins for Messenger Plus, and there are plugins for Trillian. But Messenger Plus! does not work on trillian.

That plugin does support Some features of messenger plus, but it is an immitation and does not do the real thing to be honest. All that compatibility program does is respond to some of the things from messenger plus.

I'm a Trillian user w/ skry, and it truly is an awesome program, the best I've seen. It is a separate program with its own plugins (need to be downloaded from CS site). It also connects to 5 media with no modifications.

Exactly, And WDZ being smug about it "connecting to the server"  I ask this to you, did you ask permission from Bill Gates to hack and modify his program?   And our community forum Is much more friendly when a topic is posted about new plug ins found on the net.  Seems to me that no one here can make a Trillian plug in so you get deffensive.

and messenger plus doesnt "hack" anything, it hooks msn ;)

I beg to differ, have you read the MSN messenger TOS?  Anything that modifies it is illegal.  I didnt blame WDZ for anything, I accually applaud him for not banning me.  I just retorted to his comment, as you are doing right now.  Thats what forums are for, retorting.

well to be fair, WDZ said nothing close to being "smug". People genreally respond better on this forum if the thread makes sense in the first place. It also helps if the first post in a thread makes sense.

We already know about Trillian. A community that is based around MSN/Windows Messenger and Messenger Plus! would already be aware of a Chat Client that uses the MSN Messenger Servers.

Doesnt matter if it mods the EXE or anything else.  If it modifies one bit of information (for the binary challenged it would be changing a 1 to a 0) it is illegal, therefore voiding the TOS.

I certainely do not. The new custom sound feature costs a lot of money every month to maintain so I cannot allow other programs to use it (I emailed the creators of the plugin, I hope they will understand my point).

Please.... let's not start a pointless war between our two different forums. The internet is big enough for both of us :p. I thank you skry for posting a link to this page, it allowed me to contact the distributor of the plugin. I easily tolerate "compatibility plugins" so that Plus! features work in IM clients like Trillian, however, as far as the sound feature is concerned, it's another matter as any connection made to download a sound costs me money so nothingbu Messenger Plus! itself is alowed to do it.

PS: Messenger Plus! does not hack anything nor does it change binary code inside the Messenger process at run time. It hooks Messenger which is a completely different processus.
