Well I was thinking about importing a PSX (PSX DESR-7000) (assuming that I can find a mod chip to allow me to use North American games on it).

I don't have a PS2 atm. I'd like one, which the system includes.
I don't have a DVD player, but I do have DVDs :P (My DVD player was in my Xbox, which I sold) and I'd like one with an integrated burner - just like the PSX has :P.
I'd like a DVR, which the PSX also has (with a 250GB HDD).

The PSX has PS2 and PS1 game playability, a DVD player/writer, a 250 GB HDD, a DVR (Digital Video Recorder), integrated online adaptor, a TV tuner, image viewing off a memory stick/memory stick DUO and cross compat. with the PSP (which I have).

Do you think it would be worth it for me to import one through a site like Lik-Sang? They retail for around $650 Canadian, I believe (they're out of stock at the moment, with no listed price). This is all assuming that I can find a compatible mod chip for PSX DESR-7000 (and if anyone knows a site that has them, I'd appreciate it).

Note: Just so you ppl know - I'm not looking for the mod chip for the sake of illegally downloading and playing pirated games - just so I can use North American games on a Japanese console :P

Also Note: I plan to buy a PS3 at launch.

This looks really cool, I love the features, but if it's about 650$ and that you want to buy the PS3 ASAP.. well.. hope you making lots of money my friend ;-)

I'm not doing too badly considering 100% of my income is expendable :P

But the PS3 likely will not be out until Fall 2006 :(

Funny, you don't hear much about the PSX. Didn't even no it was released.

Well it looks convincing to me. Pretty big though. And expensive.
I would certainly like one. The tv tuner would come in handy for me.

I'd say wait untill the ps3 comes out. But if you want to get both, up to you :)

Well it's only out in Japan, and the PS3 won't have the features of the PSX - that's why I'm asking. DVR, a DVD burner and a DVD player would be nice - a PS2 is an added bonus :P

Well I'm unsure if I want to spend that much on it :P

I still haven't been able to find a compatible MOD chip though, if I can't then I'm just going to have to forget it bcz I NEED to be able to play US games.
