Installing Moods/Problem by alegator on 04-30-2005 at 01:29 PM

I installed some moods into my MSN 7 (latest version). They show up in the "My Display Picture" under the "Dynamic Display Picture" listing. When I choose one of them as my display picture the preview pane shows an animated Gif, but it only shows as a static picture in my picture in the contact list. Shouldn't it show as an animated gif to other contacts watching me as is shown in the preview pane?
Also, when I run multi-msn (more than one client), the installed moods only show in one client only (the one with the username I installed). Do I have to install the moods for each client?
Thanks.

Moods change to reflect what emoticon you used last.

And what about the animated gif preview? Why does it show only as a static jpg?

You can't use animated gifs i dont think... they have to have a special digital signiture

By the way, where are moods, winks and emoticon files located? I can't find them in the MSN Messenger folder.

WinXP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\MSN Messenger\<id>
<user> - Windows user account
<id> - Hash of your Passport e-mail address (search the forums: the prog's here somewhere)

Other Windows: Can't remember the path exactly - I'm sure someone else can.

Thanks.
What does "Hash of your passport e-mail address" mean?

use this program to find it out

Lee, I see, that program reports a number that shows in the id in the folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger\<id>
<user> - Windows user account
So what's htis useful for? to identify which folder corresponds to which client when you use multi msn?

Other Windows
C:\Windows\Application Data\MSN Messenger\ or C:\Windows\Profiles\User name\Application Data\MSN Messenger or something like that.

In the MSN Messenger folder will be new folders with names based on the email address they are associated to. To find out which folder belongs to which email address, you can use this little program to convert an email address to its corresponding hash. If you wish to read more about it, take a look at msn6 user id thingy :)
