RE: Display Picture Manager by Weyzza on 05-04-2005 at 09:09 PM

Sweet...

Just out of my curiousity, is there any minimum number to change our DPs?

RE: Display Picture Manager by J.J on 05-04-2005 at 09:54 PM

There was a program like this on msgweb.nl

But i'll give this one a try :)

Note: If you have stuffplug ng 'allow oversized display pictures' turned on, the stuffplug ng 'resize dp' window will continue to popup everytime your dp changes

You mean Advanced Display Picture! I made it about half a year ago, but it doesn't work well for everyone. Anyway, you guys could give it a try.

Nice to hear! If I'd have more spare time I'd improve this version, and as well release/finish my other projects, but I guess it will take some time...
RE: Display Picture Manager by Destruction on 05-04-2005 at 10:13 PM

I just checked out your program, seems very useful.

I will improve this version in time but I just wanted to see how people react to it first, I know some possible improvements I can make on it so if you guys know anymore then let me know.

current improvements needed:

- minimise to system tray
- make it a longer than 6 slide

RE: Display Picture Manager by Dempsey on 05-04-2005 at 10:59 PM

can you make it into a Plus! plugin?  I prefer to just have Plus! and plugins running, rather than lots of additional applications

RE: Display Picture Manager by Destruction on 05-04-2005 at 11:15 PM

I don't see why not, I will give it a go and then get back to you soon.

Yes, here it is, We didn't know how popular it would become with MSN Messenger users and we felt we had to make improvements quickly and here they are.

Display Picture Manager 1.2 Has Arrived!

If you were a beta tester then you will also need to update to the latest version which is 1.2.0.9. There have been a lot of new updates to this version and we didn't really want to change too much seen as it's not a full upgrade but we went all out with what we could do and you may not download it.

Here are some of the changes we have made since version 1.0

> Choose 20 different images in slideshow

> New functions allow you to browse folders and files and easilyadd to list

> Slight changes to the interface

> A few bug fixes

> Minimizes to the system tray once mini button is clicked or slide show starts

> Interval is now viewed in seconds as well to make it easier

> New interval buttons to get to high intervals faster
See how many images you have selected in the show

> Easy function to start a new slide show

> First image in show changes straight away without waiting for interval

Here are the changes made from version 1.2.0.4 - 1.2.0.9

> Minor interface changes

> Able to enlarge directory list

> Able to enlarge file list

> Interval bug fixes

> file list bug fixes

> Option to show / hide new slide show form

> Auto-updater included in product, if a new version comes out then it will prompt a download.

RE: Display Picture Manager by Sunshine on 05-18-2005 at 09:05 PM

Please do not uninstall Windows Messenger, lots depends on it. Examples: MSNM whiteboard, remote assistance....

If you have Winmsgr 5.1 you can set it to not start up automaticly.
Also have a look at "Cookie's reply to I am about to rip my hair out over MS Messanger".

Well its important NOT to uninstal windows messenger

@ Destruction - I think you should find a way to make your plugin compatible with windows messenger in all cases.

I think you'll find more people might download it if you make it compatible

RE: Display Picture Manager by Destruction on 05-20-2005 at 10:10 AM

Well it's getting plenty of downloads anyway.

But I understand what you mean, I will have a think about it and see what I can come up with.

I have windows messenger installed although I do not use it and I get no problems with it working with msn messenger 7.

Make winmsgr not auto startup. If display picture manager won't work with that, then it's upto the programmer to fix that.

So do I, but if it works for some people and not for others i think it needs to be looked at
RE: Display Picture Manager by Destruction on 05-21-2005 at 01:18 AM

This seems to be an occuring problem for me and some of the products i produce.

What is the best method of resolving this, because I have worked on some but unsuccessful.

Also, I would like some feedback from people who are using the program or have used it, do you enjoy it, would you make another version releasing in the future etc.

Maybe try asking the plugin makers on the forums, like CyBeRDuDe
RE: Display Picture Manager by The Napster on 05-21-2005 at 01:11 PM

Sweet, gonna try it out.

[Edit] Dont work, it says I should sighn in even if i am. And i only have windows messenger disabled, not uninstalled, cuz other apps/plugins need it... :(

RE: Display Picture Manager by mwe99 on 05-21-2005 at 01:54 PM

you shouldn't uninstall windows messenger anyways, are you running polygamy msn?

RE: Display Picture Manager by Destruction on 05-21-2005 at 05:35 PM

I don't use plus or any plugins etc. so i do not need windows messenger if they use it.

I will look to resolve this issue.

RE: Display Picture Manager by Matti on 05-21-2005 at 06:31 PM

Maybe u could...

  • ... make it possible 2 save/remember the slideshow
  • ... don't create a minimized window if u press Activate!. Only the taskbar icon may be visible.
They are just suggestions 2 make it better! ;)

P.S.: Do we need to install & register MSINET.OCX? Or is that only if u get an error? Be more specific in ur readme plz. :)

Well the auto updater needs this file if you don't already have it, usually you will get an error coming up when you try and load the product stating it is either missing or invalid, if you don't get this error then you are fine.

finally, I have received some feedback on possible improvements for any future versions I may do.

Well thank you, I will take these ideas on board as always.

Also about making it into a plus plugin, I will have a go at doing this sometime next week I hope, may even be sooner.

It's not only plugins that might need winmsg, its more than that..to name just one: remote assistance. Also a programmer needs to think about what others need (they may wanna use plugins that do need winmsg) ;)

Good luck in trying to solve the incompatibillity issue with winmsgr.

RE: Display Picture Manager by kierant on 06-28-2005 at 08:46 PM

Message for Destruction.

Firstly, sorry to hear about having to reformat your computer and losing so much (was looking forward to Personality Messenger:)).

Ok to the point. I have had a quick read of this thread and was just enquiring about that progress of any of the suggestions made. Being able to save and load different slide shows would be great as well as being integrated as a Plus! plugin. At the moment I cannot really think of any more suggestions but I would just like to know how these are coming along?

DPM is a nice add-on, well done.
