I use FreeRam XP Pro, but I don't know the site anymore. It's free and works well.

Maybe you should try memtest86+. I haven't actually used it, but it is said to be good.

I used to use ..... rambooster 8-) I got more ram yesterday and now my
pc is lightining fast with respect to its speed a few days back ;) w00t
;)

Rambooster is ok - good i guess but ... i had tried system mechanic's
ram booster thingy as well but it consumes ram while freeing it :dodgy:
The software itself takes around 16 mb (8 - 16) to run :dodgy:

These programs (well i heard that some programs) clear most stuff on ur
ram and in doing so ur pc overall becomes fast but at 1st feels a bit
slow .... is this true ??

Actually, these programs are not really useful. Basically, they just clean unused dlls from memory. But when you'll need again these dlls, windows will have to reload them into memory, causing the system to seem "slowed down" a bit, just like when you launch a program for the first time after booting up your computer.

memtest86+ is a software which tests the reliability/health of your physical memory, to find eventual defective memory chips. it comes in a bootable package (for cd/dvd/floppy/etc).
