you'd have to talk to your ISP about upgrading your internet speed....

there are a few tools that can add a few tweaks to make your internet browsing faster, but they tend to only make a small difference.
The best things to do are to get an advert blocker, that will reduce the size of the page you are downloading. And make the page load faster.
For a more drastic solution, http://www.onspeed.com/en/ is a very good utility, my friend on dial-up swears by it. It works by acting as a proxy server, so to speak, you request a page, and onspeed downloads it, compresses it and forwards it to you. He says that his internet is way faster now.

If you are using Internet Explorer, you can use the following register keys, remember only edit your register if you know what you're doing!
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]
"MaxConnectionsPerServer"=dword:00000010
"MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server"=dword:00000020
If you use Firefox, type about:config as an url and search for network.
Then alter these keys
network.http.max-connections
network.http.max-connections-per-server
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server
network.http.piplining = true
If you make the connections and all too much your speed will suffer, so do't over do it!
RE: internet connection by Nathan on 05-07-2005 at 05:30 PM
it dosnt come up
MaxConnectionsPerServer"=dword:00000010
"MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server"=dword:00000020
so wot should i do
RE: internet connection by Ezra on 05-07-2005 at 05:45 PM
If they don't exist, make them, Make a new DWORD with those names and the values are hexadecimal, you don't need the zeros, just type 10 and 20, you can try higher numbers, but like i said don't make them too high!

I use Throttle.
Did you want an optimiser or an accelerator. An optimiser tweaks your settings once, and then you forget it. Throttle is an optimiser. An accelerator works constantly, using proxy servers and/or more caching and/or preloading and/or image compression and/or page compression. *rav0 stops to catch his breath
If you are using dialup, chances are, your ISP offers an integrated accelerator, such as Web Accelerator offered by iiNet. See your ISP.

Do you mean this? Firetune
Lol, didn't see Chris4.
There is also this:
quote: 1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:
network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.
2. Alter the entries as follows:
Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.
3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.
If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages 2-3 times faster now

mm u could test a diffrent frequency and see if that speeds you up, sometimes it does. Most of the time, i think, people are talking about places where there is a big network. Where there are virtual divisions...how to get into a better divison, how to get more bandwith and stuff like that..stuff which is pointless for a small lan
