Do you have Norton Installed?
If so, follow the instructions.
uninstall norton, and then re-install
RE: some help needed please by user27089 on 05-24-2005 at 04:19 PM
This may sound a bit stupid, but there are some virus' that actually stop your virus software from not working, somehow, check out if you do have this...
It's a low chance that you do, but just check it out. One of the signs of this is if there is avg and stuff in your hosts file.

Yes, go to Start > Control Panel > Norton AntiVirus > Change\Remove > Follow the uninstall.
Now reinstall it, from whatever disk you got it from. Or if you need a disk, buy one.

RE: some help needed please by mwe99 on 05-24-2005 at 04:41 PM
Sorry about that, basically
quote:
Solution:
There is more than one possible solution for this. Try the solutions in the order listed. If the first solution does not work, then try the second solution.
Section 1: Make sure that the computer is virus-free
You may see this error message if your computer has a virus or other infection that has disabled a necessary Norton program service or process.
To quickly scan for common infections
Connect to the Internet.
Right-click the following link:
Automated Support Assistant
If a threat is found, you will be sent to a Web page. The page will have removal instructions or a tool that will remove the threat.
When the threat is removed, re-install your Norton program.
If a threat is not found, do a complete scan at the Symantec Security Check Web site (this can take some time).
To start the scan, click the link that goes to the Symantec Security Check Web site, and then under Virus Detection, click Start.
If a threat is found, you will be sent to a Web page. The page will have removal instructions or a tool that will remove the threat. When the threat is removed, install the program. If the installation fails again, try section 2.
If nothing is found, read section 2.
Section 2: Check for needed Norton program folders
This error can happen if two folders are not created during the installation. Follow the steps in this section to check for the folders.
To check that necessary program folders exist
On the Windows desktop, click Start > Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer.
Go to the following folder depending on your Norton program version
C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\Quarantine
C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Norton AntiVirus\Quarantine
C:\Program Files\Norton SystemWorks\Norton AntiVirus\Quarantine
You should see the two folders Portal and Incoming listed under the Quarantine folder.
Do the following depending on whether the folders exist or not:
3: Download all other available Symantec proIf the folders exist, skip to "Section gram updates."
If there are no folders, then follow below.
Click the following folder depending on your Norton program version
C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\Quarantine
C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Norton AntiVirus\Quarantine
C:\Program Files\Norton SystemWorks\Norton AntiVirus\Quarantine
From the File menu, click New > Folder.
Type Portal and press Enter.
From the File menu, click New > Folder.
Type Incoming and press Enter.
Close Windows Explorer.
Restart the computer.
Section 3: Download all other available Symantec program updates
To install the updates, start your Norton program, run LiveUpdate, download all available updates, including any Norton AntiVirus Updates, and restart the computer when prompted
If this does not fix the problem, then do one of the following depending on your situation:
If you have changed the default location for the Norton AntiVirus shortcuts in the Windows Start Menu, then go to Technical Information and follow the steps in the section "Restore the Windows Start menu entry for Norton AntiVirus."
If the error happens when opening a Microsoft Office document or worksheet, then go to Technical Information and follow the steps in the section "Disable the Office plug-in."
If neither of the above situations apply to you, then continue to the link below.
How to Uninstall programs after errors
Apologies for the length of that I hope this fixes your problem

You probably need to buy the full version as the trial may have expired. I recommend you purchase the full product.
RE: some help needed please by Sam8 on 05-25-2005 at 03:21 PM

Uninstall it and purchase the full product.
RE: some help needed please by Sam8 on 05-25-2005 at 03:37 PM
well, this is faulty trial ware?
dont think so
must be some way round it
RE: some help needed please by user27089 on 05-25-2005 at 03:40 PM
Dude, don't be stupid. We've told you what to do...
The trial has ran out, you'll have to buy the full version, we cannot tell you anything illegal, so if you want something illegal, go elsewhere. Or just buy Norton AntiVirus, in fact, buy McAfee, it's better ,.
RE: some help needed please by Sam8 on 05-25-2005 at 03:46 PM
the trial is not done?
i only got the trial 2 days ago
RE: some help needed please by user27089 on 05-25-2005 at 03:47 PM
Hmm, well uninstall it then, and buy the real version.
