I have a really shit PC, i wanna know if there is a tool that will allow me to use the earlier versions of MSN messenger so it dosent take up loads of my RAM RE: Is It Possible? by CookieRevised on 05-25-2005 at 06:59 PM
quote:There is a tool in development, but it is not for serious purposes and only for testing and playing around for people who exactly know what they are doing, as running older msn messenger versions with that tool will often give you errors and not all things will work like it supposed to do. In other words, this isn't a solution... Anyways, what are the specs of your computer exactly? Because even if your computer is a Pentium I, 300Mhz and has only 64MB ram, those programs still should work. Thus I think there are some other things going on with your PC (like too much adware/spyware slowing your system down etc.) RE: Is It Possible? by Stigmata on 05-25-2005 at 07:01 PM
i used to use gilly messenger... RE: Is It Possible? by Lieter on 05-25-2005 at 09:19 PM
on www.mess.be in the download sections they have older versions RE: Is It Possible? by saralk on 05-25-2005 at 09:28 PM
quote: that alone won't work, MSN blocked access to the messenger network to all versions of MSNM before a certain version. There are programs that let you run the older versions, but they take up system resources too, so the system resources you save by running an older version of MSNM you lose by running the program that lets MSNM run. maybe this could help RE: Is It Possible? by buzz on 05-25-2005 at 10:04 PM use windows messenger RE: Is It Possible? by CookieRevised on 05-25-2005 at 11:19 PM
quote:yep, that's the one I was talking about. But Gily, as we said it will not solve your problems at all. Saralk made a very good point that those earlier versions use system resources too, and the tool to let it run uses also a lot of system resources. Furthermore, due to some severe and harmfull bugs in earlier builds it is also note recommended to keep using them (hence MS blocked the use of them). "Sfyx", the tool, is meant as a curiosity, a thing for the people who want to play around with versions, not for serious use and to solve problems like yours...
