Modification of The Conversation Block... by Derek Lee on 05-28-2005 at 03:29 AM

Ok, so here it goes.

My biggest request of all time is this;

I want to change the colour of the text box (Where you read the conversation with whoever) so it is black, and then I want to have the text so its forced to be white.

For those of you wonder, its an effort toward saving my eyes during long conversations, and long hours of computing. I've added a semi good example of what I want which was made in MS Paint.

And yes, that is Jaguar for anyone who may have been wondering.

I don't know anything about changing the scripts and all that stuff, but if you set the background to just a plain black one and change your font to something very light (white isn't a good option because obviously other people wouldn't be able to see it) it would be a good comprimise until you find a way of doing it or somebody can give you instructions... I've done this before myself to be honest.

Yer. Wot i think he might mean is that when his text box is black and his text is white. Is when he is talking to his contacts, he can see them as well as his mates. so maybe it change to black for them but white for him?

"..if you set the background to just a plain black one.."

That doesn't do anything though, the text block, where you read the messages will still be white, and the text will still be hard to read.

"Yer. Wot i think he might mean is that when his text box is black and his text is white. Is when he is talking to his contacts, he can see them as well as his mates. so maybe it change to black for them but white for him?"

Didn't make a whole lot of sence, but my aim is exactly the same as the picture, even red text inplace of the white with the black text box..

Ok wot i mean is that you see your text in white.Yer. And once you send it your contacts see it in a differnet coulor so that they can read it

I'm not sure about making the text box alone black but if you used a black background you can give both contacts white text. Using Messenger Plus!, open up your preferences window and choose the option which allows you to overwrite your contacts font and colour with yours (you obviously have to make your text white 1st)

Ok, now I just need a way for the black text box.

Hi Guys,  I just noticed this thread and thought I might be able to help.
I was just working through this today for the Foton skin...

To change the background color of the conversation history:

In UI File 920 change this code from:

code:
    convhistory[class="DefaultWallpaper"]
    {
        background: window;
        alpha: 255;
    }

To this, where the RGB is any color value (##,##,##) I made it black (0,0,0) cause thats what you wanted.
code:
    convhistory[class="DefaultWallpaper"]
    {
        background: ifhc(buttonshadow, rgb(0,0,0));
        alpha: 255;
    }

That will change the background color.   I wont go into the text (partly becuase I dont fully know how) and cause you seem to have a solution above.  If you really want default white text, i can look into it some more.

Wow, thanks mate, would it be too much trouble for you to look for the white text part?
