Logging files with unicode. by csallanon on 05-30-2005 at 07:12 PM
Hi,
I was just wondering if msgplus's logging functions support unicode, and if not whether there are plans to include support later?
I have a lot of chinese friends, and often hold conversations in chinese to help while I am learning the language. The problem is, the logfiles created by msgplus just contain question marks instead of the unicode chinese characters.
I'm sure I've seen screenshots with the chat logs containing chinese characters before so I don't even know if it's something I'm doing...
Have msgplus v3.54.132 (May 23rd 2005) installed, and MSN 7.0 (7.0.813), both of which I beleive are the latest versions.
Thanks for your assistance.
Colin

It's on the first page of the Preferences dialog box:

Unicode Richedits were not enabled in version 3.52, causing Chinese/Japanese/... characters to be handled improperly by some of the Plus! features. That's fixed now.
You sure that's still happening? With wich program do you open your logfiles?
Edit: do also what Tochjo posted

Hi Tochjo.
Thankyou very much - is working a treat! That's my bad!
I hadn't noticed this option (blind as a bat) - I new there had to be a reason for it, and that it was probably something I was (or wasn't) doing.
Thanks for the quick reply to this one.
