merrr RARing it only got it down by 46MB RE: Burning files to DVDR by multimillion2k on 06-22-2005 at 03:24 AM
you could try compressiong them in the 7z/7-zip format, it may make a big difference. Don't try compressing compressed files, contrary to popular belief if you zip a file enough times, you won't eventually get it to 1 byte RE: Burning files to DVDR by rav0 on 06-22-2005 at 08:26 AM I don't think that the Windows XP inbuilt feature supports DVD. RE: Burning files to DVDR by squall_leonhart69r on 06-22-2005 at 10:28 AM
no it doesn't RE: Burning files to DVDR by aNILEator on 06-22-2005 at 11:06 PM fucking hell 7-zipping isn't worth the hassle its just been going 8 hours and is at 1% wtf is up with that RE: Burning files to DVDR by TazDevil on 06-22-2005 at 11:15 PM
Well Nero has an overburn feature... to burn more data to the disc / BUT, it is not always safe... RE: Burning files to DVDR by rav0 on 06-24-2005 at 01:42 AM
If WinRAR almost got the files to fit, just try again, the amount of compression you get is never the same, maybe you will be lucky. RE: Burning files to DVDR by CookieRevised on 06-24-2005 at 08:30 AM
quote:It is always the same! Compression is not a game of chance! When you compress a file and you later compress the original file again with the same settings, it will be exactly the same, bit by bit. Compressing is pure maths, there is no "lucky" factor in it... RE: RE: Burning files to DVDR by TazDevil on 06-24-2005 at 08:40 AM
quote: Yeap if you want to achieve better results you must adjust Winarar settings (by setting it to make BEST compression, it will take a bit longer but there will be a small % gain... depending on the format of your files everytime.. You should try overburning i suggested above though.... RE: Burning files to DVDR by squall_leonhart69r on 06-24-2005 at 12:18 PM
use winace 2.0 compression instead RE: RE: Burning files to DVDR by rav0 on 06-25-2005 at 12:18 AM
quote:Sorry. It was like that in my experience, but obviously, I had not kept all the settings the same. quote:No compression method will be always better than others. RE: Burning files to DVDR by aNILEator on 06-30-2005 at 11:45 AM
i already said that it was on BEST settings RE: Burning files to DVDR by CookieRevised on 06-30-2005 at 12:03 PM
Either: RE: RE: Burning files to DVDR by rav0 on 07-01-2005 at 02:42 AM
quote:If it is that important for it to fit onto one disk, you could buy a dual layer disk. Don't everyone start telling me that dual layer disks are expensive, he only needs one, just for this case. RE: Burning files to DVDR by lordy on 07-01-2005 at 08:49 AM That's assuming the DVD Burner is a DL burner... and the built in thing for Win XP doesnt recognise DVD's, that is going to be one of the new things in Longhorn RE: Burning files to DVDR by aNILEator on 07-01-2005 at 11:57 PM I'm just going to compress every file seperately and see how that goes RE: Burning files to DVDR by rav0 on 07-02-2005 at 01:27 AM Probably not very well, because each archive will have the same overhead data, plus the compressed file inside. But maybe if you compress those archives ... I don't know. RE: Burning files to DVDR by TazDevil on 07-02-2005 at 01:35 AM
OK since the compressing theory doesnot work for you, you might want to RE-ENCODE or CROP some of your AVI files to a lower video or bitrate, which would free some space for you... |
