I was sent a file from someone but the message said that windows blocked it because it was potentially harmful. Is there a way around this or something that blocks files? RE: Received file blocked by lopardo on 06-23-2005 at 04:35 PM
Try this out: RE: Received file blocked by Mike on 06-23-2005 at 04:44 PM
Stuffplug, a plugin for Messenger Plus!, can disable this "feature". RE: Received file blocked by lopardo on 06-23-2005 at 05:03 PM
quote:I think the message he's getting comes from Windows XP SP2's Security Center... RE: Received file blocked by xpirdwingz on 06-23-2005 at 05:10 PM Those instructions dont work btw, because the file isnt on the computer to start with.. not to worry. i'll give it a shot RE: Received file blocked by lopardo on 06-23-2005 at 10:52 PM What antivirus/antispyware and firewall software do you have? RE: Received file blocked by piro21 on 06-24-2005 at 12:54 AM
i'm having this problem too its very annoying RE: Received file blocked by Ahmad on 06-24-2005 at 01:20 AM
You can use A-Patch to disable the protection. Tick the option "Remove File Transfer Protection". RE: Received file blocked by Tandy on 06-24-2005 at 02:21 AM
Mess Patch also removes blocked extensions, along with many other cool things, however if its SP2 that's giving you the error....grrrr damn SP2, i didn't even bother installing it. RE: Received file blocked by xpirdwingz on 06-25-2005 at 02:40 PM
I might try Ahmad's suggestion of the A-Patch. I won't need it yet though, luckily not many of my files get blocked. Is very annoying though RE: Received file blocked by Sypher on 06-25-2005 at 04:21 PM
The problem is NOT related to the "you can't send file X"... RE: Received file blocked by Nvidiot on 06-26-2005 at 08:45 PM I have the same problem... opening the file manually is at best a very annoying workaround. I have disabled the SP2 security center service too, that didn't help any either. Any thoughts? RE: Received file blocked by Tochjo on 06-27-2005 at 11:25 AM

Hmm, it seems APatch doesn't properly remove the file blocking on the latest MSN. Stuffplug fixed it... weird, but solved ![]() RE: Received file blocked by Floydian on 01-25-2006 at 09:53 PM
I relise this thread is ancient, but I was wondering if there is a patch that will remove this for Messenger 8 beta (Its not in the A-Patch)? RE: Received file blocked by [MR] on 01-25-2006 at 10:03 PM try to compress the file as a .zip or a .rar and then send or recive the file while it is still compressed. RE: Received file blocked by Idium on 01-27-2006 at 05:52 PM File Extention Blocking is a part of messenger sence v7.0 it blocks exe's and other (so-called) Harmfull file extentions from transfering. Stuffplug NG can disable File Extention blocking. go to www.stuffplug.com to get it. and as WLM8 is only beta a patch is Very Unlikely. |
