quote: If you check on that page you will see that at certain spots there are yahoo images linking to yahoo search. Isn't msgplus for msn messenger? Shouldn't yahoo have NOTHING to do with it? Your opinion please RE: yahoo in online.php by Tasha on 07-01-2005 at 02:21 PM
It's just a bot that trails the forums and then with certain words it picks up, if you were to search them in Yahoo! search, then you would get the thread on here. RE: yahoo in online.php by Lou on 07-01-2005 at 02:22 PM ohh it makes sense.....but why yahoo? RE: yahoo in online.php by Jhrono on 07-01-2005 at 02:31 PM
quote:Because it has a search engine, if you look, you can also see google bots and others RE: yahoo in online.php by John Anderton on 07-01-2005 at 03:23 PM
You can see any bot that has a search engine ... it isnt new news. They see the no permission page, people's profiles and everything. RE: yahoo in online.php by absorbation on 07-01-2005 at 03:31 PM messenger plus! dont let them come in they do it themselves my website has had alot of bots some in mainly from msn, google and yahoo so i get pages listed in serach engines RE: yahoo in online.php by John Anderton on 07-01-2005 at 03:46 PM
quote:AFAIK basically what they do is that they search the page for all the key words and then if they find a link then they jump to it. Eventually they "bookmark" (or what ever the appropriate word is) your site so that if you search for any key word then your site shows up You search for "John Anderton" and you'll probably find my profile for this forum on the 1st page (It was there last time i checked ) Some people having common names could put messenger Plus! In front of it but this is only an example. Please do not post "My name appears on page 'x' of 'y' search engine while searching for 'z'" Or anything on those lines RE: yahoo in online.php by jren207 on 07-01-2005 at 11:56 PM
Also, the search engines make cached copy of a page so for example there was a thread on these forums that got deleted, you might still be able to view some of it in the search engine's index RE: yahoo in online.php by WDZ on 07-02-2005 at 04:41 AM
quote:Yahoo! isn't just a Messenger. The three biggest search engines on the web are Google, Yahoo, and MSN, and my script recognizes all of them. RE: yahoo in online.php by Purity on 07-02-2005 at 05:12 AM
What's the point of the script though? RE: yahoo in online.php by WDZ on 07-02-2005 at 06:40 AM
