Are you behind a router?  My router allows me to filter words, and sites.

no, my XP pro main computer is connected directly to adsl modem (no router), and using internet connection sharing, my home LAN can connect to internet.
what i want to do, is to have full access to internet from the main computer, yet restrict access to internet on other computers sharing the connection. i dont want to use software on the other computers, but control internet access with software on the main computer itself..... more or less, like how ISPs provide parental control features.

You can try This.. It's called 602LAN Suite.. Download.com says it's "Free" ...

Providers use a transparant proxy-server to block out sites

You can also try:

Parental Filter 0.2

The Family Browser --> I guess this is some integration for Internet Explorer.. Don't know for sure..

I've used "CCProxy" in the past, you can filter by words, wildcards and sites... You can make your own "Site blocked" page... It worked like a charm..

You can download CCproxy Here

It isn't free though..

the 602lan suite, is perfect yet the content filtering option goes for 30-days trial.....
parental filter 0.2 is at best usable.....

i didnt like the ccproxy, nor the family browser.......
i already tried AllegroSurf it was fine....

does anyone have anyother suggestions??

By the way, doesn't Zonealarm has filtering?

i have norton internet security, it has parental control, that doesnt seem to work (maybe due to misconfiguration), could it filter content for my LAN computers??
could ZoneAlarm do that too?!?!
