Like the Longhorn beta, this test will be using the Connect website using unique invite keys for each person. Although testers that are selected will be able to Invite their friends or family to participate with them.
"The MSN Beta Team would like to invite you to sign up for an upcoming MSN Messenger beta program. During this beta program we will be testing a new version of MSN Messenger.
We are looking for a group of testers willing to actively participate and provide useful feedback to our development teams. This will be a short beta program lasting only about 5 weeks".

This page shows all the programs that you can participate in. For each program, you can see the nomination start and end dates, view program details, or apply for the program..

RE: New msn messenger beta test? by Stigmata on 07-14-2005 at 06:23 AM

well this scheme is to prevent leakers, each tester has been given a individual invitation. This invitation is used to log onto microsoft connect.
no numbers are known for deff at the moment.
there have ben rumors of 7.5 and 7.1 floating around the place
it is also rumored that the beta is just incorporating with the new deal between Vodaphone and Microsoft that will allow vodaphone users and msn messenger users the ability to commicate in real time.

The version number unknown, but some Messers seem to think it will be MSN Messenger 7.0.1 or MSN Messenger 7.5.
RE: New msn messenger beta test? by Hank on 07-14-2005 at 06:37 AM
why would they call it 7.0.1? Microsoft never numbers there msn messenger or windows messenger like that ,, only Gaim or trillian does,
RE: New msn messenger beta test? by Stigmata on 07-14-2005 at 06:40 AM
now there is no need to argue with me
i was only posting what i have seen
RE: New msn messenger beta test? by Hank on 07-14-2005 at 07:06 AM
i aint argueing ,, im just trying to make it clear tht MS dont number there messengers like that, if itt came over as an argumentive thing i appologise

okay dokay
(i can see segosa complaing about the post you just made )
i can see your point about 7.0.1 being well... a stupid number as we are allready higher then that. but i think 7.1 is more reasonable.

Anyway, does anyone know any planned changes? or any possible changes? (other than the whole Vodaphone thing)
From mess.be:quote: The new version, rumored to be 7.5, is expected to be officially out within two months and, according to a trusted source (*waiting for his permission to credit*) it will come with a new feature similar to Plus!'s Emotion Sounds.

I Just Got This email From That Connect.microsoft.com website
Greetings from MSN Beta!
The MSN Beta Team would like to invite you to sign up for an upcoming MSN
Messenger beta program. During this beta program we will be testing a new
version of MSN Messenger.
We are looking for a group of testers willing to actively participate and
provide useful feedback to our development teams. This will be a short beta
program lasting only about 5 weeks. It is critical to the product's success that
each member of the beta program participates fully during this period. Regular
and consistent participation throughout the program is expected. Incentives will
be provided to the most active participants.
If you are selected as a beta tester, you may be required to:
Download and install beta releases of MSN Messenger
Submit bug reports online
Participate in private beta newsgroups
Work directly with a product group engineer to investigate bugs
Complete periodic surveys
If you are interested in participating click on this link
http://connect.microsoft.com and follow the instructions below.
After clicking the above link you will be required to sign in with a Microsoft
Passport.
Accept the beta Terms of Use
After signing in with your passport fill out the short registration survey.
After filling out the registration survey you will be taken to your "My
Participation" page. Click on the "Invitations" link.
Once at the "Invitations" page, enter this Invitation ID: Not For You. Click
