I know that when blocking a contact in MSN Messenger, it will prevent that contact from seeing me online. My question is if blocking it will also prevent receiving emails from that contact when that contact tries to email me thru Hotmail?

If you have blocked the contact, then it will not block him from send you any emails. I don't know if there is a feature in hotmail that you can block emails from certain people.
