How do I connect to the internet on Ubuntu via a usb cable.  Cuz that is what I have.  Gracias....

Have you tried booting the computer with the usb cable already connected?

Did you check your manufactuerer's website if they had Linux drivers?

I can't find the drivers  I have a toshiba modem

Dont you have the disk? There is always driversworld to check

ya i have the disk but i think its only for windows but i will double check on that one

another reason why i hate USB..far off better to USA ETHERNET Adaptor in Linux,  not USB,  but have you tried using the Internet setup wizard or whatever comes with ubuntu?  .search Google for some answers  or go into FREENODE MIRC NETWORKS AN  JOIN THE #UBUNTU CHANNEL

Bah, i have 5 Ubuntus 5.04 right by my side...the only reason i dont use it as my main system is due to the lack of drivers for my wireless Usb adapter...Anyway, if you have another spare pc, put windows on it, with your Usb modem on it, then connect an ethernet cable from one pc to other, making the modem's connection shared

His computer doesn't have an ethernet slot built into the mother board ,(it is old)but he has four ethernet pci cards, but he is too lazy to put them in

well i put them in and i need to burn the drivers to a cd or somthing b/c i downloaded them so ill do that later

try running Fedora on it, iv'e never had a problem gettin net to work , an i dont use Drivers either, just drivers from fedora, thats all,
