I got adobe photoshop elements 2.0, which obviously is very dated by now, and I'm gonna buy a new version of photoshop, there are lots on the market not just by Adobe and i was wondering what people would recommend. sorry if this threads been done before, i did a search and nothing came up. price isnt an issue, I want best performance.

Adobe Photoshop Elements is the worst version of Photoshop you can get, it isn't user friendly and is lacking in features.

Adobe Photoshop 9.0 CS2 is the best out at the moment... It has a lot more features than elements, and is more user-friendly...

I preffer to the old CS. and or number 7.

I have to agree with you there, I am, and always have, used Adobe Photoshop 7.0, CS2 is just as good though. I just don't have time to download it...

I'm not exactly an expert either so is it easy enough to use? (the cs2 version)

RE: Best Photoshop by Purity on 08-21-2005 at 09:26 AM

Should be alot more advanced than 2.0.........

RE: Best Photoshop by Mentality on 08-21-2005 at 09:39 AM

so are we sayin, its gonna be a bit hard, i never fully worked out 2.0, (regreatably) just wanna be able to make my own sigs, avs, wallpapers and such.

A friend recommended JASC Photoshop, is this a good software?

Well then try Adobe Photoshop CS2 9.0, it is the best out at the moment, and once you have got used to it, then it's fine.

RE: Best Photoshop by Mentality on 08-21-2005 at 09:44 AM

is it worth the money I will be paying for it?

I'm not bothered really, just wanna know, if it's worth the price tag

I love elements, I used to have CS, but I didn't like it. Unless you airbrush ladies for a living, then you don't really need all the features that CS offers you.

Im still on v 7.0, i tried CS, but found 7 easier (Probably cuz ive been using for quite a while :p ) to use, also i dont use those advanced new features in CS a lot/never.

Try the trial see how you like it. :D

It's Jasc Paint Shop Pro (latest version is 9) (Jasc is now owned by Corel as well for interest sakes), i have always used this and find it alot easier to use than Photoshop, but i guess thats probably me being biased, but yes it is a good piece of software and a very good competitor to Photoshop..

Imo ... Adobe Photoshop 9 CS2 Is the best tho im still stuck on adobe photoshop 8 cs :( (I have all versions from 5 to 8 :P)

I have used animation shop pro in the past and found that to be a very good piece of software. which is why JASC was a particular interest to me.

to be really honest, it's not the software that matter the most.. most of them do the job pretty well... the most important bit is knowing how to use the tools you have effectively.

at the moment I use adobe photoshop cs2 but i used to use JASC paint shop pro and that was pretty good too. With any software, you just have to get used to it and become familiar with the tools it has as well as the layout.

so true. Many many people used to tell me that the GIMP was terrible when I said I had made things in it, but it wasn't at all. Most of them hadn't tried it, or simply didn't understand it.

I would go for the latest version, but perhaps get the trial first. It is good once you get used to it. :p

well, i know most digital artists use photoshop 7 and CS (old version), i use photoshop 7 myself and it is very good, i wanted to go on CS but i didnt because someone said it was little weird so i didnt

but what do u want to do with photoshop?
do u want to do siggies and avis or digitally paint?
if u want to paint digitally get a tablet (wacom intous 2) because painting with a mouse, well it takes a long time to get used to
