Skype plugin [Suggestion] by bostonfanx on 08-22-2005 at 10:06 AM

I was wondering if anyone could make a plugin for Messenger Plus! that would integrate skype directly into any msn messenger window... Possibly adding an extra icon to begin a coversation and such while keeping skype in the background that way you can do it all from one window..

I realize that both parties would need the plugin but a feature to associate an email with a skype account could work better. The only thing you would need to be sure of is that the other party has skype running.

If both parties need skype running, wouldn't it be much easier if you just talked in Skype?

What are the benefits of having this plugin?

I see the benefit in having a web cam session running simultaneosly with a skype call... Thats what I do.. also when there are too many people around you just type what you don't want them to hear :P

I know, but what is the benefit of having a pluging for Skype in MSNM? If you are both using it, couldn't you call them in Skype?

Just wondering...

Skype standalone doesn't offer anything apart from Voice, Chat and File Transfers :)

A /xcall would be kindof cool, /xcall <enter> and the plugin initiates a Skype conversation...

To me the audio in msn sucks completely. But the cam is the best i've ever had in a im program the plugin I propose is the mergeing of the best of both worlds...

Skype has only audio features

vskype's new beta (coming this September) will be cool...
Current (June 05) version of vskype does not run the way it should though.

Some new features of the new beta:

Accepting a call invitation with vSkype installed doesn’t launch a web page.

Launch a Skype text chat directly from the call. A new button will be added to the vSkype client to launch a text chat in skype with all participants in the call.

New Video Codec - Approximately 30% reduction in bandwidth requirement per frame. Frames will be displayed at a more constant rate. Less video latency -- the maximum incremental video latency should be in the neighborhood of 750ms.

vSkype client has an 'Always on Top' option.

The ability to start a test call has been added to the sys tray icon as an option.

A new Audio Engine has been integrated - All levels, volume controls, device selection, have been removed. It just works the same way as Skype does with your Windows audio devices. Audio devices will be the same ones selected in the Skype Audio Devices option dialog.

Beta 1.2 "Eye Candy". Eye Candy is a set of user selectable video processors and real-time compositing backdrops that enhance the vSkype experience. Fun!

Call Flow Revision - Changes to the vSkype user experience for call invitations, call entry and exit, and in-call user status messaging. Now you can tell who is entering the call and what their current status is.
