MSN and Google Talk logo by Chris4 on 09-02-2005 at 10:33 PM

I thought this was quite funny :)

Did anybody else notice the rainbow colors on Google Talk match the exact same colors as Microsoft's butterfly? Check it out in the screenshots. Both color schemes are exactly the same if you view it from left-to-right (going clockwise in the case of the MSN logo). I should open these up in Photoshop and see if they are the exact same RGB scheme.

Well, Google have the same colours in their main logo too, in the same order...

So I don't find the colours THAT strange actually! ;)

Well MS has used the 4 colours for ages, in their Windows logo, in their Office logo and in their MSN logo.

Google has used the same colours in their logo for ages too.

But hey, wait! Messenger Plus! uses the same colours as well - and that is for a fact on purpose. We don't blame Patchou for being a copycat do we? :)

Yes, Google do use the 4 colours in different settings and formations in almost all of their logos. I don't see a problem with it actually.

But the plus! logo is a deformed butterfly
RE: MSN and Google Talk logo by einum on 09-02-2005 at 11:47 PM

Yes it is a deformed butterfly, so actually Patchou hasn't only copied the colours, he also copied the 4 elements the butterfly consists of. As long as something isn't copyrighted, registered or trademarked, it is perfectly legal to use anything similar to it.

Just look at the BMW M logo and the SSR Wheels logo:

These two companies has nothing to do with eachother, but SSR has used their logo for ages without any trouble with BMW. And for the record, BMW is one of many companies that is very strict when it comes to use of their brand and logo!
