Looking to shrink by Savior on 09-04-2005 at 01:15 AM

Hi,

I'm looking to shrink about 15 gigs of movies and files so they will fit on a single DVD-r is there a program that will do that?

Thanks

Try dvd shrink

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/...ers/dvd_shrink.cfm

That will shrink any dvd-movie to a smaller size.

Also try encoding other types with Xvid and or try zipping/rarring them.

I've tried that but that's not what I need I need to shrink mpegs, avi's and wmv files

That's kinda impossible, 15 GB -> 4 GB, try your luck using bzip2, that's kinda the best compression as it could go, and wont get to 4 GB.  So, not your luck.  You could use bzip2 which will probably get it to 10 GB or such, then you could split them.

Bzip2 offers GREAT compression!

Do you just want to burn the files, or do you want to make a DVD-Video that you can watch in a set top DVD player?

If you want to just bur the files, see Burning files to DVDR.

If you want to make a DVD player playable DVD-Video, you need a DVD-Video authoring program. NeroVision Express can do it, and a free trial is available. When I was checking the link I noticed that it says that this isn't the trial, but it is. Download and install.

rav0, just to tell you, he is trying to reduce the amount of files to be fit on a DVD, a DVD holds about 4.7 GB of data, he has 15 GB, so isn't what he is kinda looking for.

Well... like I said Xvid will compress your mpeg's and avi's and all, and you could use rar or bzip2 to compress it even further, but I'm not sure you will make it to 4,3 GB :P
