You could download a plugin called Stuffplug NG.
The message will be shown in the convo window.

note that it is NOT completely accurate!! the MSN protocol has messed this feature up, there's nothing that can be done about it, howvere it is relatively good. just not completely accurate

it works... it's just not very accurate, because the messanger protocal now closes the connection when a conversation has been inactive for a set period of time, StuffPlug-NG interprets this as the person having closed the conversation, showing the message that they have left the conversation, howevere they actually havent.
there's nothing that can be doneunless they change the protocol again which is unliikely
