Building my own PC (help) by Maniac on 09-30-2005 at 11:58 PM
Hiyo! Long time no posting but thats because im very busy with uni work
Anyways im currently running on a (marvelous) Powerbook G4 but now I need to start thinking about my gaming life so i will start building my own PC.
The Plan:
I'm planning on buying the computer part by part... literarly... not just shop for the different parts and get it sent already made or get them all at once and plug it up.
Im planning on getting maybe 1-3 "parts" a month depending on their cost (id get the cpu one month, screen another, mouse/keyboard together etc... etc... )
The main issue
Well i think it's obvious.... money doesn't grow on trees I can't afford to buy the whole thing at once or id just get some kickass system that costs me $6000 dollars and never leave my room anymore.... I wish, i wish.... So yeah, i HAVE to buy it in parts
The not so main issue
The problem is.... i think im smart enough to plug everything in.... the problem is compatibility, i have no idea what works with what when things get too technical....
What im asking
I know of sites like newegg.com where you can buy stuff in parts, but is there any site (or many in newegg) where I can find some type of "walkthrough" or something that will help me get what i want with descriptions and stuff (the only ones I found were for really high end systems, i'm aiming for a "normal" system that can handle games on a "good" level)
Reason why im using this bold crap
No idea
What you do now
Help me
What i do after
Thank you

ask your computer shop what parts to buy and then ask them to hold the parts for you

There is no good computer shop that will have that kind of info around here... and even if there was i prefer doing everything online
