I got a older laptop from my friend's dad.  It is an IBM think pad, and is pretty thick and ghetto.  it has a pentium processor with windows 98 on it.  we dont know how many Mhz it has though because it doesnt say it even say it in the computer's properties.  it only has 32 mb of RAM and we are trying to install win2k on it.  what kind of RAM do i need for it and what would yall think would make it go faster? Thanks.

try downloading and running cpuz on it. it should tell you what make and speed the proc is and how much ram.

Well we found the the speed in the bios it is 233 mHz:S

:lol:my friend put xp on his :P but i rember when we tried 98 on or comp that had 16 mbs and like 1 gb:refuck

128mb ram
+dialup at 30/kbps average
and NO usb ports

i can't believe he actually downloaded a 400 MB movie on it :P

i have a COMPAQ ARMADA E500

With:

  • 128 Mb Ram
  • 596 MHz Intel Celeron Processor
  • A CD Burner (Yeah Thats What I Thought :refuck:
  • A Built In 56 Kbs Dialup Modem
  • A Built In 100 Mbs LAN
  • A 5 GB Hard Drive (But I Put A 40 GB One In)
and says it was built for windows 2000...

but i put xp on it and now its VERY slow so meh

EDIT: it had ONE usb port

Yeah well I want to be able do some stuff on 2000 that 98 can't do.  Anyways we tried installing and it gave us a fatal error telling us to contact microsoft.  So I will just stick to 98:P  Mr5mr has a computer with a 233 mHz prossecor and he runs xp on it.  It is still pretty fast.  But he has a lot of ram, that is the only difference.  I might buy some more though.
