TAB: Multiple Monitor window position bug by threepol on 10-13-2005 at 04:09 PM
I'm sorry if it's posted before, I have searched for it, but didn't find it so here is my practical problem. Not that much a bug:
I'm using 3 monitors...if I open a few different conversations and position each conversation on a different monitor, it will remember the position.
So if you tab between the conversations, the window will move to the position/monitor you have set each conversation.
Maybe it's a good thing that the conversation will popup on the place where you originally put it, but most of the time you just move the window because it's in the way or something and just want all the conversations move there. Maybe option to stick the window to same position or not...That would be great.

Tried to reproduce on 2 monitors, didn't seem to work...
Is there anything else you have to do to reproduce it?

Same here, can't reproduce this what-so-ever.

threepol, can you also state your complete and exact msn messenger version, messenger plus! version and windows version.
Also tell us if you have any styling programs like StyleXP, WindowsBlinds, etc...

I'm sorry for my delayed reaction.
My MSN version is 7.5.0299
Messenger Plus! 3.61.145
Windows XP Pro - SP 2 - Dutch
I don't use graphical window optimisers like windowblinds or such things. The windows UI does his job perfectly I think
Strange that you both can't re-produce this "bug", because I have it all the time. A step by step guide how this thing appears.
*** UPDATE: !! I've noticed it only appears when you've maximized the conversation windows. !! ***
1. Locate your messenger main screen on the first monitor
2. Open a conversation with someone. Move this window to a monitor on your left or right and maximize it.
3. Go back to the messenger contactlist (which is still on your first monitor)
4. Open another conversation, and move this window to a monitor which doesn't contain your first conversation. (maximize it!)
5. Use the MSN tab function, the conversations will remember their positions, so with every tab you have to look on a different monitor.
As I said before, it isn't a real bug but more a practical problem.

Yep, now I can reproduce it and confirm it.
The bug occurs only when you start from maximized windows.
eg: If you start this from not-maximized windows, it works like it should. Also, after you have the bug, and you restore the window to its normal size and back to maximized position, the bug will not occur again (because then the windows positions of the previous convo, which were on the other monitor for example, change to the positions of the last added convo (used as the "base" to display the tabs)).
Thanks for reporting...
