RE: Ms-dos by Dempsey on 10-29-2005 at 11:57 AM Windows XP doesn't actually have MS-DOS it just emulates it with the command line. RE: Ms-dos by Hank on 10-29-2005 at 11:59 AM to get to MS-DOS you need to Boot from XP CD, an go to a DOS Command Prompt RE: Ms-dos by DragonX on 10-29-2005 at 12:31 PM
quote:But even with that, is it stil a native DOS OS or it it still just an emulation of it ? RE: Ms-dos by Hank on 10-29-2005 at 12:41 PM it is a DOS-OS RE: Ms-dos by DragonX on 10-29-2005 at 12:45 PM

quote:I was lied to - Nah i'm just kiddin But there musn't be many differences between a native DOS and an XP DOS. RE: Ms-dos by Hank on 10-29-2005 at 01:16 PM

quote:What you're talking about is the recovery console I guess? It's not a DOS prompt at all. Afaik, and I have been working with XP for a while now on ~300 machines, there is no way to get to a DOS prompt via the CD or Windows quite simply because it is built on the 'NT' technology and has it's own kernel drivers as opposed to Windows 98. RE: Ms-dos by CookieRevised on 10-29-2005 at 01:30 PM
The latest true native MSDOS version was 6.22 (or for some localized versions 6.23)... RE: Ms-dos by Gonçalo F. on 10-29-2005 at 01:54 PM
you can boot with a win98/me disk (or cd) and access your winxp drive if it isn't in ntfs. if it is in ntfs, the best you can do with that disk is use fdisk to work on the partitions. RE: Ms-dos by ShawnZ on 10-29-2005 at 02:03 PM

why do people say dos-os? it's Document Operation System, no need for an addition OS at the end RE: Ms-dos by Eljay on 10-29-2005 at 06:50 PM
