-this is not a problem on my computer but on my friends one-
my friends msn doesnt sign in. she types in her details but the msn man jus keeps spining and wont connect. no error messages are displayed
she tried uninstallin/reinstallin but no luck
shes running windows xp (not sure if its home or prof)
and shes usin MSNM 7.5
at the moment she has to use web messenger

Check the firewall to see if it is blocking the connection

Usually deleting list cache is helping with that-kind of problem.
She can download list cache deleter from http://www.msnfanatic.com/articles/list-cache-deleter-265.html

Tell her to try the connection troubleshooter
Tools > Options > Connection > Connection Troubleshooter > Start
Then click repair after the problem is found (if one is found that is)
