Strange word thingys by Facta on 11-02-2005 at 07:23 PM

Just got sent this chain email:
Its about strange MSword things
First one
Write Q33NY(supposely the name of the first plane of 9/11) in capital letters
put it in size 72
change the font to windings
Strange....
Second one In MSWord
Write =rand(200,99)
click enter
WTH this never ends?
why do this happens?

The original mail is in spanish
its here....

Caso 1
PROCEDIMIENTO:

Caso 2
ESTE CASO YO QUIERO VER QUIEN ME EXPLICA!
Para esta, ni  Bill Gates  encontró expoliación.
1) Abra Word
2) Escriba:  =rand(200,99)
3) Teclee enter y espere 3 segundos.
Que es esto??? Alguien consigue explicar???

It is just a load of rubbish, it has all been set up to look like that, they're just trying to make you believe something that it is a blatant lie... Planes have numbers and letters, not names.

  • There were two planes;
  • From what I see, those are two pieces of paper, not two buildings;
  • The sign at the end is the Jewish Star of David, it doesn't have anything to do with death/hate etc.
  • Even if it was a pentagram, it wouldn't have the meaning of death/hate, it has the meaning of love...

Oh yeah, and the second one has always been a feature... :-/...

actually they do have letters ;) i.e. WA14632 (random and not intended to be a real plane)

Q33NY isn't even a valid flight number, from my limited knowledge of commercial aviation.

Flight numbers are formatted as so, from the research I have just done, which confirms what I thought from my VATSIM days.

Airline Code -- Flight Number
BA -- 123
(Without the dashes)

So a British Airways flight would be BA123 and an Air Canada is AC123. The flight number is assigned by the airline company, as an easy way to identify their flights, so for example a flight from Manchester, UK to JFK Intl, NY provided by British Airways could have a flight number of BA102. The return flight would probably be BA103 or BA101.

That word thingy has just been made up to look like a flight number.
The second one is one of the thousands of MS Word functions, and all it does is do that text for the number of lines specified or something. =rand(11) will do a much smaller amount. Not sure whether the number changes the number of repeats, lines or what though. Haven't checked it that far.

The first one is not as important....
te second one....
whats the use for that...
its endless

RE: Strange word thingys by saralk on 11-02-2005 at 09:40 PM

the use of the =rand thing is for examplar text, its kind of useless because its just the same text again and again, so you don't get an accurate picture of what it looks like. Its like Lorium Ipsum...

RE: Strange word thingys by Purity on 11-02-2005 at 09:46 PM

if the pentagram was 'evil' it would have a circle around it, this is just a jewish star.  Just FYI

those pictures is just a fluke. This is like 5 year old news.

I know when I had Microsoft Office 1998 (Aka Word 98)

It had that. So around 3-4 years before it had it.

Unless they predicted the future :P

is a well known phrase that uses every letter in the alphabet...so yea thats what it is

RE: Strange word thingys by Voldemort on 11-04-2005 at 03:25 AM

RE: Strange word thingys by Millenium_edition on 11-04-2005 at 08:19 AM

it is also used when previewing fonts (in your windows\fonts folder)...

and ^-^: they're not bugs. the mozilla one is an easter-egg put in by the creators of mozilla (you can do about:mozilla in firefox too, even in IE). the =rand is, as described in this thread, a feature to test...
