Antispyware flagging benign DLL's! by Delphi Thunderbolt on 01-01-2006 at 12:13 AM

Yep, theyre still at it!

I have Messenger Plus 3.62, and I also use Microsoft AntiSpyware beta 1.

But Antispyware still flags atleast one DLL that should be stricken from the record completely.

Lame_enc.dll is purely an MP3 encoding/decoding library, so I see no reason for this to be marked as a threat. It's not just used in Messenger Plus, I know that GoldWave and Audacity (I think) use the library.

Why doesnt MSAS focus the light on the bundler and leave the core Plus content alone!

It simply flags it because it is in the same directory (that's how stupid such anti-stuff programs actually are)...

If you put "bill gates.txt" or even some of its own files there, it would probably flag that too as being malicious...

Tried the bill gates.txt thing and it didnt work.

It's Microsoft's problem and Microsoft should fix it.
