It is not that bad, but you just have to sorta train the firewall settings and whatnot. That is what I found it useful for. That and virus alerts. The thing ultimately SUCKS at detecting viruses. I purposefully put 3 viruses on various parts of my computer, didn't detect them. Installed AVG, it found the three right after installing. Long live the infinite, positive or negative RE: Windows OneCare Live Public Beta by Eddie on 01-14-2006 at 07:59 AM Yer, it blocked IE7 for me and MSN 8, nearly everything, alot of work needs to be done. I Agree with Rebel. RE: Windows OneCare Live Public Beta by Weyzza on 01-14-2006 at 08:15 AM
Meh... RE: Windows OneCare Live Public Beta by Eddie on 01-14-2006 at 08:19 AM The point of a firewall is to block trojans and worms and normal viruses not to block msn and internet explorer etc lol RE: Windows OneCare Live Public Beta by Weyzza on 01-14-2006 at 08:29 AM
I don't know. RE: Windows OneCare Live Public Beta by John Anderton on 01-14-2006 at 12:31 PM

Considering Microsoft are new to this field, it's a decent program. However, as many people will tell you, it does not detect viruses too well. However I can see this taking off in the future, and outdoing AGV and other free anti-virus programs, it's Microsoft after all, they usually do try and make their software as good as they can. The exception being IE, up to now, however they are even trying with that now. RE: Windows OneCare Live Public Beta by Joe on 01-14-2006 at 02:43 PM

I been using Windows OneCare Live since the beginning and it seems fine here.. apart from when people send me .wav files on MSN Messenger it blocks them. RE: Windows OneCare Live Public Beta by user27089 on 01-14-2006 at 10:39 PM I don't like it, doubt I ever will. RE: Windows OneCare Live Public Beta by Timothy003 on 01-14-2006 at 11:04 PM
To me, security is very essential, so I don't really get annoyed by the messages; instead, I feel safer. RE: RE: Windows OneCare Live Public Beta by CookieRevised on 01-15-2006 at 12:37 AM
quote:Although that's quite true, there is one major thing you forget: such products need to be VERY accurate and correct, otherwise they give a false feeling of security, no matter how essential you may find 'security'. Despite popular believe, the biggest problem are not virusses or trojans or whatever, but the false security feeling that many people (will) have by installing such beta programs or programs which often give false alerts or don't detect anything. Because of that, such products (even if they are beta) should not be put in public (aka: no public beta testing either), IMHO. quote:It should never have been put in public in the first place. It should be private, only accessable to people who really know what they are doing and able to properly beta test it. RE: Windows OneCare Live Public Beta by Timothy003 on 01-15-2006 at 12:48 AM Yes, but they did choose to make it a public beta. What matters is whether or not you want to use it! RE: Windows OneCare Live Public Beta by RebelSean on 01-15-2006 at 03:07 PM
quote: The entire point of making it public is so that people who WANT to use it can use it without having to go threw the proccess of getting into the beta (Not to mention to get more users using it). But as CookieRevised said, it should only be used for those people who know advanced computing. RE: Windows OneCare Live Public Beta by Anubis on 01-15-2006 at 09:21 PM
quote:People will just download it without knowing what BETA software is. If the software is too poor to work properly, it shouldn't be released. RE: Windows OneCare Live Public Beta by GiantSpider on 01-15-2006 at 10:26 PM

Microsoft probably released it just to get the ideas.live.com page full. ^^ RE: Windows OneCare Live Public Beta by John Anderton on 01-16-2006 at 05:17 PM
