Hey I was wondering if there was going to be something incorporated in the new log file system that actually counts the amount of hours talked to the person.
May be a fun way of finding out with huge log files that you can get with people.

Yes, I would like something like this as well to check how much you talk to a certain contact. It should be simple enough to do and maybe other various stats could be included as well.

I think they're used to be a plugin to get some data like this from the chat logs, can't remember what it was called though...
Just found it - See How Long You've Chatted To Contacts Each Month
But it seems the download no longer works as his site doesn't allow hot-linking and I can't find it on his site anyway.

Ah thats a bit of a shame, but I saw the update thing on the frontpage showing a overhaul of the whole logging system so thought it would just be logical to ask about it now. Plus adding it as an extra within the new system allows everyone to use it without a seperate plugin. It just seemed more convienent.

Copy and paste the links: should get round the hotlinking protection, since it isn't hotlinking

I think the files aren't on his site anymore, or they have been moved.
The original location of the files were:

But they both give 404 errors.

I also would advise to give that original thread posted by Dempsey a read. It contains some info about the program (it isn't a plugin) and possible errors with it. On that note, it isn't the best and 100% working program for this though, but it is a very good attempt. If you find it, use it with care.
