Hello everybody,

here's just a quick message to let you know that the Beta 1 of Messenger Plus! Live will be delayed by about two weeks and should be released in the middle of February. I want the beta testers to have the best first hand experience as possible and sending a beta version now would just not be a good idea.

Also, please note that I did not review any of the 300 emails I already received from people who want to beta test the software so don't worry .

There is no release dates, or ETA of WLM builds. So I doubt that that is the reason.

As for the delay, take your time Patchou . The wait is well worth it rather than having things not working. Have fun with it, and good luck with the applications! (Good luck to all who has applied)

Even though it was delayed, it is still worth the wait, the quality is much better than time.

I wish I could test, but I'm not _overly_ active in the community, and so don't have a reputation Will this be an update from Messenger Plus! 3, even though it's built on new code? I don't want to lose my many, many sound clips that I can't access through WLM...

Well, it's always worth to wait for Plus! Or...meaby some of us doesn't have to wait it as long as others. Congratiolations to them. And 300 e-mails. It will take time, if people wrote novels, like I did.

For those who wonder, the only reason for the delay is the quantity of work required to finalise a usable beta. It's been a week since I've done nothing but create windows for stuff like the preferences panels, the setup, the uninstaller, etc... this kind of thing takes time (even though it does not add any feature in the end).

What do you mean by "sound clips"?

Sound Clips from MSN Messenger have got nothing to do with Messenger Plus! and thus don't depend on what version of Plus! you have/use.

Custom Sounds from Messenger Plus! will, of course, be compatible with the new Messenger Plus! Live (and vice versa), just as many other things will (text coloring, commands, etc). And the stuff which will not be compatible (overall registry settings), will be automatically ported to the new version. So, no worries

Thanks for your reply, you cleared things up a lot for all the rookies.

I hope nobody minds me asking - since Messenger Live is a closed beta, why is msg plus live going to be a closed beta? If it's only compatible with msg 8 then theoretically you should make it open to everyone - only those with messenger 8 will be able to use it. Or something like that. I went to the effort to be using messenger 8 legally and would like the chance to also be testing the new plus. Then again, I understand that it's probably oversubscribed

Because there quite alot of users using wlm now, and releasing beta programs to alot of people before testing on a smaller group is not really a good way to test a product unless your absolutely sure there are no bugs.
Delays are expected to make the product the best it can be

The beta is private (and will be protected) because I would hate to see a buggy version being distributed on the internet and crashing all the Messenger 8 beta testers of Microsoft. Beta versions of my products are (almost) always private, simply because I don't want to do like some other companies and keep a "beta" label for a year or two to excuse all the bugs of my program.

But now, it's back to work full time

Don't worry Patchou, i'm sure most people of the forum realise the time and effort you are putting into this and also the fact that you are human - you need time to yourself.

Hi... As a Windows live messenger beta tester, i greatly miss having Messenger Plus availible, any ideas on when to expect the final version of Messenger Plus live to be released?... or will it be possible to download the BETA 1 version?

it would be good if you release a "light messenger plus live"...
I'm not using WLM, although I'm an official beta tester, because I miss two features:
- chat logging;
- colors on nicknames.
(the 1st is the principal...)

Thats a good thing to know about the settings import. i was worrying that id have 2 do all the settings again when  MsgPlus! Live is released

^ But the built-in WLM chat logging isn't as good as Messenger Plus!'s, especially when i want to copy and paste my chatlogs back into a conversation

take your time patchou, we wouldn't want a buggy plus!live with a creator who has CTS and can't type anymore and can't fix it

Does this mean that if someone else uses WLM on our computer that will get detected and also disable MSG Plus! Live for everyone?  Has Pachou thought about people using the same computer?

That person would have to be a WLM beta tester as well for them to sign in, and I dont think those selected would be foolish enough to let others use the beta. Also I think Patchou has written the installer so it only installs on only one person's windows account.

Messenger Plus! have become a vital part of our Messenger Lives! Without it more than 80% of the things we use are no longer available..

So please release it as a public beta. The more testers...the merrier

bout tiem this thread was closed,, Peoplee should know by now Patchou wont release a Buggy Version untill Final of WLM8
