I want to have a go at making a FireFox extension, but I'm too lazy to/can't think of any ideas.

Can anyone think of anything that would make a good extension?

BTW have you heard about SongBird ?  Audio player based on Gecko engine?

Erm...how about an automatic slideshow generator for image searches on Google or Yahoo etc. So if I searched in Google Images for, I don't know, say Green Day images - it could somehow display the results in a slideshow rather than individual thumbs.


I have absolutely no idea if this is remotely possible, just think it could be useful.

Yeh or when you close firefox it remembers what pages you had open and opens them again when you restart firefox. This is what opera does it is a very nice feature :)

That SongBird program is really good, thanks.

For the Firefox extension, what about when you have a flash file, (.swf) embedded in a page, you could add a link to the actual .swf file under the embedded file in the page. So it would be easy to right click and download the flash file.

Also an extension which allows you to edit the context menu, the one which appears when you right click a page in firefox.

What would be the point in firefox checking the email client? The email client doesn't automatically download the messages from the server.

It would be more sensible to have an extension which directly checks the email server to notify the number of emails, then maybe have a link which opens the email client like outlook.

But there are probably extensions which do this, unless Dempsey just wants to make his own version of an email notifier.

If I may answer the question: No.

Just so it shows your contact list and when you double click a contact (yes you guessed it), up comes the conversation box.

already extentions plz2search
(torrent one is still in dev though one of the people from googles summer of code is doing it)
