would it be worth buying 1GB of ram, a decent graphics card, 60GB harddrive and basically totally upgrading my entire cpu or should i just get a new pc? edit: my cpu is a dell dimension XPS T500 (if that helps) RE: question...? by Nathan on 02-21-2006 at 06:10 PM For one whats your cpu and for another how much do you want to spend? RE: question...? by Kryptonate on 02-21-2006 at 06:12 PM
quote:is that even possible? If you want to upgrade your entire pc you could as well just buy a new one and place the parts you have now in the new if you want to keep them (I mean hard disks etc. by this) RE: question...? by Nathan on 02-21-2006 at 06:13 PM
quote:You really think that he will want to keep them? RE: question...? by Kryptonate on 02-21-2006 at 06:15 PM
quote:he might yes if there's important data on it that he doesn't want to move to the new one (if he buys one). RE: question...? by absorbation on 02-21-2006 at 06:17 PM Get a new PC but keep your moniter RE: question...? by No Leg Joe on 02-21-2006 at 06:25 PM the moniter isnt so great, its 17 inch but its HUGE! quote:Buy an entire new computer from Dell - Including a new TFT monitor If you upgrade your computer you'll only have problems in the future because it's still an old system with new hardware. RE: question...? by No Leg Joe on 02-21-2006 at 06:40 PM you sure? Dell are usually quite good for upgrading! and anyways, my pc has already had one giant overhaul for Harddrive, RAM and graphics but that was a while ago and with low quality hardware RE: question...? by Nathan on 02-21-2006 at 06:44 PM
Or go to Aria Which do good deals such as just getting just a pc and no monitor etc... RE: question...? by Reaper on 02-21-2006 at 07:03 PM
dont buy a Dell if you plan to change some parts in the future! trust me, ive had bad experiences. RE: question...? by Adeptus on 02-21-2006 at 07:18 PM
You just need a new PC. RE: question...? by Dempsey on 02-21-2006 at 07:59 PM

Joe, try Mesh Computers, I was on their site today, the specs on their comps are pretty good, and they're cheap too! RE: question...? by kittymew on 02-21-2006 at 09:22 PM I absolutely adore dell! RE: question...? by [MR] on 02-21-2006 at 10:20 PM you might need to get a new mobo if I am reading that your gfx card has only 3mb or memory. that tells my that it is most likely very old and maybe integrated in the mobo. If your mobo is lets say from 2000 back you can only buy pc133 or pc100 type RAM and the largest they sell for that I think is 256 mb. These RAM sticks that are pc133 and pc 100 are quite expensive. If you want to get a new processor then it might be hard since it is an old computer and some new processors now will not fit in the old socket that older processors go in. when upgrading my dell. i pretty much had to change everything. the motherboard had a low FSB so i had to buy a new mobo so my CPU would run at full speed. the new mobo didnt fit in the dell case so i had to buy a new one. the power supply couldnt power my graphics card. RE: question...? by No Leg Joe on 02-22-2006 at 04:51 PM the graphics card is in a pci slot and not part of the mobo. i used to have onboard video with my old pc mobo but that just pissed me off! |
