looks like a lot of people are experiencing difficulties with the updating . It gets installed over and over again for some .

btw: just sign out and then back in to be asked to update .

edit: keeps installing the 562 version over here

i got it from the auto update

For those who have problems updating to the new .566 build...

- Run WLM auto-update first, it might just work for you in one time without doing anything extra.

If it doesn't work (WLM keeps on telling you there is a new version even after you upgraded)

- Some people reported running auto-uppdate again and then choose "Repair" works. This didn't work for me, but you can try it.

This worked for me:
- Run auto-update again, keep the installer open.
- Go to "Start" > "Run..." > Type "%TEMP%" in the box > "OK". Copy - Look for the WLM .566 installer .exe (filename is random, look for filesize around 13 or 14MB).
- Copy the installer to your desktop to make sure it won't get deleted.
- Close the .566 installer.
- Uninstall WLM.
- Run the .566 installer from your desktop.

Oh yeah, they have enabled u 2 turn off send and receve nudges, which have been the bane of my life due 2 Nudge happy step family one less annoyance, now for winks to be disabled and i will be happy as well as a checkbox which allows transfer of blocked file types.

you can disable winks Tools>Options>Messages>untick Play Winks etc

Yeah i got the new 566 and it looks shocking, I had just gotten used to 562 and set it up the way i liked it. and then they dawn the 566 on me. oh well theonly goodthing is you can use the older version of MSG Plus! with the 566. but well hopefully soon Patchou will have the new MSG Plus out for us.

Anyone know how i can go backto 562 without having to upgrade to 566?

Build 566 is available for every WLM user, those  in the managed beta and not in the managed beta. So it's not a managed beta as such anymore.

You don't need connect to download, you can also do that via ideas.live.com I had no problems updating whatsoever.

Whilst the beta may be restricted to testers using CNI, this forum will not be participating in sharing links to private Microsoft beta's.

Whatever you say, whether you are talking about how it'll only work on some accounts or not - testers are not supposed to distribute this anywhere.

Any links to the beta will be removed.

This beta has been released publically Chris.. its on the servers for download at Live.com. All my friends have updated from there itself =/

WHAT THE H*LL, i just got this automated download message, so what do I do? I download that piece of software, I install it, I restart the computer, I try to log and and bam there is the automated download message again with this newer version. It doesn't install 0566 over 0562 with me and until then i'm not able to login when I install this new version again he asks me to repair ??

if you are a Managed beta tester. Please do the following..

1) uninstall 8.0.0562 first
2) then go to connect an download the 8.0.0566 build
3) then install

anyone else have a bug with the now playing feature in 0.566? They wont display correctly for me except for those users also using 0.566. It leaves out the artist for every contact using a previous version.

• Download the file
  
• Go to Start > Run > type in %temp% and press enter.
  
• Search those files for the one which should be around 13.5mb (it will have a random name but you should be able to work out from the tooltip.
  
• Move that file to My Documents, or the desktop or anywhere you remember.
  
• Remove Messenger BETA from your computer in the control panel
  
• Run the installer you have recently moved

I HATE the interface for the new build.. i hate it so much, i want to go kill MS employees who came up with this new one..  Plus should have an option to change the skin back to the old build.  I hate this one because you dont have much color control, the icons suck, its silver... (black desktop), its not sleek at all, everythings so... blocky..

they can't seem to get a good UI can they hopefuly they give us more colour control, the colours arn't dark enought right now

As Chris Boulton Has said within the NG, the Blue looks ok as the colour scheme ..stil find it useless the colourscheme there to washe out..

i kinda like/getting used to the UI. its just the colouring scheme that look eewww, they may aswell get rid of the colour schemes feature IMO if they keep it the "washed out" way it looks now

actually in my personal opinion, i enjoy build 566 more than any previous build of the betas. (except the icons, i wish they were unique but of course that is still to come). i like a clean simple, yet complex look in any program, similar to how MS has made the design of Live! Mail.  Yeah the color is a little to bright, but surely and slowly they're gettin' er' done. i believe they are releasing builds so quickly mainly for the purpose of user feedback. they're just slowly working their way to the best possible version for all of us. as you can see MS wants this to be the BIG one.

Anyway, I really liked the last icons, they worked great with the old layout.  I pretty much hate the new layout with a fiery passion.  Since i cant tell MS how much i hate it, ill say it here.

what i hate about it is you can't tell a blocked contact form a non blocked, contact

yeh i agree... they should let us make our own winks but the problem with that is that someone can use the winks as a way of hacking or sending a virus to another persons computer or something like that.. well there is some security risk involved anyway
