There should be something you can type in your name which says how many people are currently online in your list which automatically updates.

It IS possible, it would not update realtime, but it could update in like every 1 min. Would annoy your contacts like every namechanger plugin does, but hey, If someone here like to program it :P

I think it's a useless plugin tbh. But then again, if someone does not and wants to make it, be my guest :D

at first i thought he ment a tag like /onlinecontacts or something,

and to [mr], not everyone has the groups seperated by online/offline like that picture, i have probualy a dozen groups based on who i like talking to and where i know them from.

Those numbers appeared already since MSN Messenger 6 (if not earlier). Either way, not what he asked for.
