WMP 10 -> 9 by stoshrocket on 04-12-2006 at 09:20 PM

my prick of a friend has a crappy computer and WMP 10 doesnt work properly on it. Basically, the songs skip and stop on it, so he wants to go back to 9. I've found him a link to media player 9 on the web, but the setup closes after recognising that a more recent on is installed. How can you remove v10 so you can install 9? i was thinking about removing it from the program files, but im not that risky to try that out :P thanks guys an gals!

although theres no actual of removing windows media player, by doing what M73A has mentioned, you will simply do a rollback. This should allow you to install version 9

no, it'll bring back 9 because xp comes with it, it won't remove it

Xp doesn't come with nine, it comes with eight. Unless it was bundled with Service Pack 2. Anybody?

The installer for which, after uninstalling 10. When you launch WMP again it should probably come up witht the customisation pages asking you which file types to associate. You won't need to run an installer again.
