ok i replaced the heat sink/fan for the CPU, and that brought my CPU temp down to about 34C which is pretty good, but theres still temp3 thats ~ 57C any one know what it is and how i can cool it?



Update: i'm assuming my power suppy is temp1 because its cool to the touch, and temp1 is about 23C

i don't mean to be double posting, i just would really like responce, because my computer keeps freezing during start up, i basicly have a 1in 50 shot of geting a sucessful start up

might it have something to do with my power supply? might it be too weak? its a 450W

what programs u got running in the background?

ok i looked on mine an i cant see any problems there. so im maybe assuming its hardware related , but what i dont know

i'm inclinded to agree, i think the crashes may be driver related

Maybe Temp3 isn't for anything, and is just reporting a nonsense value.

You should check your motherboard info to see what temperature sensors it has. Also check SpeedFan support to see if there is definitions of the sensors on your motherboard.

whats iexplorer.exe have you tried killing that process an rebooting?

i havent got iexplorer.exe on my system, i dun a check on it to an someone else dont have iexplorer either  just explorer.exe

Download a copy of Everest by Lavalys.. It will tell you the actual componant or sensor, aswell as everything else about your computer.. Good program. Then you can find out whats running hot.. But if i had my guess its the Graphics card.

try going into your BIOS, some chipsets have a builtin hardware monitor, and it might be a bit more descriptive. Lavalays works well too.

As for items that have a temp probe, usually the CPU, HD, some graphics cards. I have never heard of a P/S having one, but ya never know.

Ive heard of high end PS's having them. But not your average one.. My board has 3 sensors on it, both my hdd's have sensors, my cpu and graphics card so their probly the ones your looking at.

funny thing is its go its like 25C now

er yeah computers dont just stay the same temp.. that sentance is a bit confusing but i think your saying its 25c now.. thats not unusual the temp also depends on your room temp and how long its been on for..

i ment to say its gone now, the problem, the temp3 that had been running hot for so long is fine now, i beleive it was teh mother board or the video card

I've checked it now. everythings fine but it beeps and then restarts sometimes then the other times it runs fine but the gpu doesnt boot up by the looks of it. :@

If it's bleeping, then it's a problem with the RAM.

and accosianly it says soemthing bou the BIOS

if it beeps, find your motherboard manual and check what the beeps mean. e.g. 2 short + 1 long could mean a RAM issue (that was just made up off the top of my head though )

If you dont have the motherboard manual, but you know the make of the BIOS then you can google the beep codes.

Or download Motherboard Monitor, but i suspect it will be a bad motherboard sensor.

Have you got the manual? Check out the beep codes.. If you want to do it manually then get in there, unplug everything (and i mean everything) plug it back in.. Then if its still beeping and you dont know what it is, try pulling out your RAM, then PCI cards etc till you find the problem.. and if you dont find it then its your mobo.

When my CPU HSF wansn't on properly, the computer would turn itself off a few seconds after I turned it on. When I turned it on again, it turned itself off faster (because the PCU was already warm, and it didn't take as long for it to get dangerously hot).

There's a variety of things happening. Like:
It'll boot and then start up but monitor wont switch on.
It'll restrt twice then beep
It wont load up widows xp
It sticks at a white loading bar
Etc... There's probaly more but thats al i can remember off the top of my head

Sounds like a hard drive or software failure. Have you tried booting from CD?
