I bought a digital mp3 player(512mb) day-before-yesterday. Today when I formated it, its size was reduced to 245mb. Now i can't understand how to bring it back to 512mb. RE: Digital mp3 player problem. by user27089 on 05-12-2006 at 06:24 AM
I'm not really sure about mp3 players, but are you sure that it actually only holds 245mb, try and put a 300mb file or something on it because it's true amount of space migh be 512, but the format area may say 245. (Not sure if that will work or not, just have a go) RE: Digital mp3 player problem. by Felu on 05-12-2006 at 06:35 AM
Thanks for the reply traxtor but i have already tried that. quote:Yeah im going to exchange it this evening(its noon for now). But I thought that if any of you help me with my problem itll be great. I wouldnt have to go a distance and would basically save time. RE: Digital mp3 player problem. by DJKAL on 05-12-2006 at 06:37 AM if i was you, i wouldnt say you foramtted it. with many MP3 players you are'nt supposed to so that could be the problem RE: Digital mp3 player problem. by rav0 on 05-12-2006 at 06:40 AM Try formatting it to FAT, if it isn't. quote:No, it is FAT. I dont know how to change it to FAT32. No it doesnt need any firmware. RE: RE: Digital mp3 player problem. by rav0 on 05-12-2006 at 10:57 AM
quote:When you format it, you get to choose a filesystem, you should be able to choose FAT32. quote:It can't not have firmware. RE: Digital mp3 player problem. by Supersonicdarky on 05-12-2006 at 11:03 AM try formatting from your player not your pc (if it has the option) RE: RE: RE: Digital mp3 player problem. by andrewdodd13 on 05-12-2006 at 12:19 PM
I can't help with this (sorry!) but it probably is a fault with the filesystem. Not to mention that most MP3 players have a file called settings.dat which is hidden and marked as system, it's only deletable when the disk is formatted - could have something to do with it. quote: IIRC, you can't format filesystems smaller than 512mb (proper mb) as FAT32.
