I think there should be a whole new section just for WLM and MPL4 as I am seeing a lot of threads regarding MPL4 and WLM, as I am also interested in it. Also, as MPL4 and its previous versions are very different, it'll be easier to distingush the two.

that'll be be made into the New updated forum when its out , there's no point putting it into the forum now when it isnt officially been released ,, well not in final stages anyway

I think the current sections (with minor renaming) are fine. The focus will slowly migrate from MSN and Plus! 3 to WLM and MP!L naturally.

i agree, i think adding more forums would screw up the look of the front page... other forums i have been on have a front page that u can scroll for about 5 minutes because of so many forums, keeping the amount there is atm will reduce confusion and will probably save the moderators having to move more threads

Though they are different, many stuff is still the same (only the menu items or how you get to a certain option is different).
This does not require new subforums at all! In fact it will only add to the already existing chaos, duplicated threads and what not.
All which needs to be done by the helpers is stating correct and detailed postings, instead of being vague. And if needed state that this is only for versions x... just as they need to do now.

Furthermore, there is nothing in the forum titles which indicate that they are about 1 specific version only. No change is needed.
Adding new forums (or totally renaming them) will:
1) only confuse people who have questions
2) not prevent cross posting of stuff or references
3) make it more confusing in regards to referencing to other threads
4) not prevent people from creating threads in the wrong (version) sections and thus with the consequence that helpers automatically assume the user is using a specific version while he/she is using the other one...
5) produce duplicated threads, help posts, etc in almost exactly the same subforums (appart from the version)
6) etc...
They only thing which needs to be done is:
1) for those who ask questions: state the exact version they're using (but this needed to be done already!)
2) for those who help people: ask what exact version the OP is using (but again, this needed to be done already!!)
In other words, it will be more chaos than it is now...
Nothing should change (except for certain vague postings of some people -it's not the quantity that counts, but the quality- blah, look who says it +8000

But still i stand by my opinion. Windows Live Messenger IS MSN Messenger and 99% of all things is still the same.
Also, wj doesn't say if it is just a rename (include WLM in the title) or adding another subforum (which would be IMO totally useless and far more confusing).

We'll be doing a little bit of re-orginization, some renaming, mabey some new forum creation. It hasnt been discussed in detail, but there will be some changes to acompany the release of Messenger Plus! Live.

There was never a new forum for when Messenger changed user interfaces, never a new forum for when there were changes in Plus! menus and preference, etc.
Making a new forum will seriously confuse many people, will produce even more duplicated threads, threads in the wrong forum, more work for mods, etc. etc. It is of no use and will in fact cause more chaos and duplicated threads and people not "finding" their stuff because they are searching in wrong subforums (if they search at all).
A new subforum isn't needed just because an UI changes or even because some internal code changes. Plus! will still be Plus!, Messenger will still be Messenger.
The only new subforum which I could see usefull would be "scripts" as that is requires a completely different approach than "plugins". Will have its specific problems and what not. (Though even there is a grey-area where general talk about plugins and script will overlap eachother).

i agree with cookie, you don't need a new fourm, just because theres a new name does not mean you can't post it in there, plus!live can go in plus forums, and WLM in the MSN
there could how ever be a new forum theme, since it IS a new GUI for not only WLM but also Plus!live

Well a lot of the help stuff are entirely different. For example, I have never experienced 80004005 on MSN, but on WLM, i experience it like almost twice a week...and Messenger Plus! Live is recoded right? Then there might be new errors to it.... There are also no more Plug-ins, so a Scripts/Add-ins section should also be added........and adding 3 more forums will not take up a lot of scrolling, maybe only a few cm or none........
BTW...I never thought this thread would be sooo popular!

Lets leave it at this. Patch is going to be directing us twoards the forum changes and alike, So until then, Sit on your hands and resist the urge to spam with threads like this. We've got things under control.
